Very common, the links are only plastic and the balls they clip into rust and swell up and then snap the link arms. Better quality stainless ones are/were available on Ebay..

Sound like your evaporator is freezing up.. On a long run the evaporator gets covered in ice and restricts the air flow. I would have thought there would have been a freeze switch somewhere to stop that happening. Turning the A/C off melts the ice and the system works till it freezes up again.

Yes, valve/solenoid, the same thing sort of... I bought the lines from Mercedes, it was around £30 I think, but i seem to remember it came in sections the had to be joined together which was a bit strange, others may chip in about that..

Search the forum, there loads of post about this, mine was dropping overnight and slowly getting worse, couldn't find any leaks with soapy water, changed the airbags but still the same. Changed the solenoid but no change, changed the air lines and it stopped dropping overnight and been fine...

I would say your 'MB specialist' are hardly a specialist at all. Just search the forum, rear suspension leaks are a common occurrence. On the 212 air lines frequently fail due to the lines rubbing on the chassis (mine did) and I suspect your 213 is probably the same. Checking for leaks with...
