W215 CL500 strut dust covers split

The dust covers aren't bonded to the struts - they just have crimp ring clips at the top and bottom (I can't remember the dimensions off the top of my head)

    CL500 water pump...

On the C215 it was easily accessible with the bonnet open but on the C216 it looks like the reservoir is tucked beside the ABC reservoir. From this picture I suspect it looks like removing the wheel and liner might give you access. There are two pumps - one for the windscreen washers and one for...

    CL500 water pump...

I think it's pretty similar to the one on my old C215 and is just a friction-fit pump that costs about £25. I originally replaced mine with a generic part from Euro Car Parts but it seemed to have a poor check valve and so would take an extra second to squirt fluid by which time the wipers had...

Black circles 10% Flash sale today on some brands

I got excited by this as I was looking to get some Michelin PS4s. When I tried checking on Monday they only had Super Sports in stock. Now the PS4 is available again so they were clearly just trying to get rid of old stock. Worth bearing in mind next time this sort of offer comes around again.

Where to fix a Sanef Toll tag

The manual for my C215 had a diagram with the locations of windows in the infrared reflective film where tags should be mounted. I never had any issues with mine on any of my roadtrips.

    Eurotunnel

I've never had any problems with width restrictions, the only things that have caused clenched buttocks are German contraflows...

    Eurotunnel

I've taken my Phaeton on the regular carriages many, many times and although you do need to pay attention, I've never scuffed either my tyres or my wing mirrors. For what it's worth, the Phaeton's track is 1903mm and width is 2129mm.

High milers - just reached 140,000 miles...

And still pulling like a train. I hope the new owner puts 40k miles on it like I did :D

I think late 2004 was the change over so 997s are all MY05 on 54 plates.

My understanding is that the first symptom tends to be metal particles in the oil filter after the internal seal on the bearing has started to go. Their recommendation was to have it done at the same time as the clutch.

Northway Porsche. They've done the last three services on the thing so I'd have hoped any signs of IMS bearing wear would have been noticed. I'm sure I'll drop by now and then with a tray or two ;)

Most certainly! The Transit belongs to my mother. She bought it at an auction and then drove it single-handedly down to Marrakech a few times. We dubbed her the Mother Trucker (obviously). I won't be getting rid of the Phaeton any time soon - there are only about 3 long wheelbase W12s with...

It is indeed a 2S and was lucky to find one which had pretty much all the options ticked - the most important being sports chrono, sports exhaust and adaptive heated seats :D It's just ticked over 70k miles this weekend and everything feels in excellent condition (a few peeling soft-touch...

Thank you! After an AMG it always feels like it's revving too much but I'll get used to it. That said, I think I'll definitely be rejoining the AMG fold at some point - I need more torque in my life :D

So after finally selling my beloved CL I decided to go for something completely different: I'm ashamed to say it's the first manual I've driven properly since passing my test but luckily everything is coming back quickly. I'm still in the "calibration" phase so haven't got anywhere close to...

Sorry to hear that David - your V10 was a very nice specimen! I better double check the sunroof drains on mine this weekend...

Going to look at an Audi A8 W12

Sorry to hear you're no longer part of the Phaeton fraternity, David! What happened to the poor thing? I just took my W12 up to the north of Scotland and while it's definitely getting long in the tooth it still does what it was designed to do very well. It also averaged 29.2MPG and 531 miles...
