    C55 is now even rarer

Unless you have an agreed valuation don't wait for their offer. Get on the front foot, send a pdf of all the paperwork to show a great car and start collating the adverts now. Print them so you have them date marked too. The get in with a number before they give one to you.

    2004 Range Rover, stupid buy?

I bought a 2002 L332 V8 in around 2011/12 with 154k miles on the clock, no history or paperwork for what was at the time the cheapest I could just about find at 6k from memory. It needed a front diff and front airbags in a year. A couple of pixels on dash missing but otherwise all ok. Sure it...

    C55 is now even rarer

Wow, sounds like a big accident and glad to hear you both walked away. Once the dust settles you'll need to figure out are you insured for replacement value of mods or is it just a regular market value policy. Scour the adverts. Having had a C55 I know you can't be that choosey when doing this...

Anyone own my old C55 AMG

First time I've looked back here for a while as sold my Merc. I sold my C55 through here and it was previously owned by a forum member, but not at the time of my purchase. I found this link when looking for my old reg after seeing this thread https://cazana.com/uk/car/K55ATG

    manual or auto

I have a C55. I rarely use the manual mode buttons. I have never used the manual stick mode. I even bought some of those paddle shifters but never got round to fitting them. Fortunately, I have another manual car to do all that with :)

    C63 v Boxster S

Italy side is much better for driving but it's still not a patch on other mountain roads. Partly because of the name it's just overly busy.

I find in Europe people will wave you past too, and not just the locals but UK drivers abroad too! Try seeing any of that in the UK.

    C63 v Boxster S

Have to admit, Stelvio whilst an iconic name and in everybody's bucket list, is a crap drivers road compared to all the other passes. You don't need an AMG to pass somebody if they're not on it :D

    C63 v Boxster S

You could, but why would you? People don't buy Boxsters for intercontinental cruising and doing big daily miles. They buy something else as well :D Obviously an S class is great for that use but not so good for hooning up, down and round mountain passes. I say just choose the right car for the...

    C63 v Boxster S

It would be boring if we all liked exactly the same things. I wouldn't choose a CL or SL as for me Euro trips are not about the destination and sight seeing and needing to munch miles. It's all about the driving and the roads for me. Where you end up is just a decent bed and meal till you go off...

    C63 v Boxster S

I pretty much never drive it on track :D However, for the last 4 or 5 years when I has come to choose which car to take on a Euro driving trip to Alps, Pyrennes etc it's no contest. For me for quicker more enthusiastic driving with corners Boxster every time. I love my C55 too but there is a...

    C55 exhaust work..

With a modded exhaust the C55 should still be civilised and look quite under the radar ... Until you bury your foot in the carpet :D

    C63 v Boxster S

The AMG experience is more dominated by the exhaust noise. With the Boxsters, earlier ones in particular, there is miles less sound deadening plus the engine is about 1 foot behind you almost in the cabin, there is more engine/mechanical/induction noise. From inside the car I think in the main...

    RAC Renewal Rip-off

I've often had ADAC on one car when going to Europe but use one of the cheap alternatives on the other car. The other plus with Autoaid is that they cover the driver (and spouse) not the car, so you can 'use' it on any car whether you are driving or not. At £45 or so they are also much cheaper...

    RAC Renewal Rip-off

I've tried Autoaid, GEM, Britannia, Autonational Rescue and mainly just buy whichever of these is cheapest!
