So, I got the measuring tool from eBay and it reads correctly. The fluid looks a nice honey colour too so I'm assuming that's it in quite good nick?

Thanks for the reply, I've ordered one from Ebay and will let you know how I get on. So, you've never had this issue with the 5g tronic? Particularly the rough/tugging at cold I was half expecting someone to say that's just what they do!

Just an update - The ATF service was actually done at 42k, and then possibly again at 82k although I can't be sure about that one! Has anyone else experienced these things?

I've tried a couple of different ones in my licence plate. Both sets gave a left bulb flashing and error on the dash. They were both marked as CANBUS compatible too. One set lasted a week before doing this, but that's it.
