    2016 A180d error P038096

Hello all, Long time no speak from me but I am back, kind of, to pick your brains. The Mrs has a 2016 A180d with the renault 1.5. Had a call in the morning to the tune of “there is a light on my dashboard” followed by me checking it out. Her usual mechanic came out in the evening and scanned...

WBAC Is Back At The Dealer

It is an easy one to miss on the face of it. You go to look at a car, look at the v5 and it says 1 former keeper and you think great, I’m the second owner. That, however, does not take into account the current owner. So you sign up for the car, send off the v5 etc and the next one you get...

Ever bought a car you couldn’t live with?

Ironically the car I could not live with was a 2011 W212. I had just just over a year and I had to get rid as the seat base was not comfortable for me whatsoever. I was really gutted as it was a brilliant car, but the reminder was that any drive that was over 20 mins was starting to cause me...

    Thinking about purchasing an MB?

@tele1962 I know you are only asking general questions, but it is a lot to do with maintenance and the surrounding cost. Not trying to sound discouraging, but are you sure that this is what you need? You have previously mentioned house work to be done, and with a Mercedes you kind of go knowing...

    New A class

It’s a forum and people are entitled to their opinions. I personally don’t rate the A class, at the same time I am sure many others do.

    CLA Engine Temp

This does not sound normal at all. I’ve had fluctuating temps before when the car needed a new thermostat. Once it was changed to a new one it went to 87 (3.0 CDI) and stayed there without any movement. With the warmer weather it should be getting up to temperature even quicker if anything. I...

    In or no excusues "out"

You’re right. If it was me in my 5 GT I would have at least the tyre width on the outside. Not because I’m a w@nker, just because I’m fed up of people opening their into mine or resting them on my car.

Just picked up my 3rd Merc - this time an 59 E350 Avantgarde

Ok on the subject of essential and non-essential, where does a DPF regen sit for example? If we go strictly by the book you cannot drive around while the car is doing a regen. PDF clogs up after another 3 weeks of short trips because say the person needs to go to work etc. Who is paying for...

    Thoughts on C300h (W205/S205)?

I am only quoting what I have read up on the forum for an E300h. I am sure it will not be that dissimilar to what goes on in the C.

    Thoughts on C300h (W205/S205)?

As I am sure others will chime in, the diesel part is not scary, it is the hybrid side of it. There have been some horror stories going around, including this forum and the consensus is there is only a handful of Mercedes dealerships that are able to work on these systems. A lot of the indies...

DPF Regen - Install in-cabin indicator light

@MrGreedy best indication for you will be the gear change points and revs at idle. The car normally idles at 600, but while doing a regen that will sit at 800. The gear change points move closer to the 2k rev mark. Exhaust note will be a bit louder as well and car will feel less responsive...

W212 Passenger mirror drop when selecting reverse?

It is part of the memory package I’m afraid. No package, no dip.

    MB we have a problem... Run-Flat Tyres......RFT

@wheels-inmotion I am not sure where you get the £400 per tyre cost. Maybe if you were talking X5/6 rear that is 305 wide, then yes. My GT runs on 245/45/19 and 275/40/19 and I only go for RFT Michelin which just so happen to be BMW homologated at £220-230 a corner.

2012 CLS 350CDi Gears not changing

The problem actually comes from the following item. The seal that sits between the intake pipe and the turbo. The rubber seal tends to perish over time, and owners as well as MB themselves tend to overlook that part. In itself it’s a £20 seal from Mercedes which is dead easy to swap over. As it...

2012 CLS 350CDi Gears not changing

If going on the error codes alone, the one that will cause limp would be the inlet shutoff motor to my knowledge. I had a car with a duff MAF and that did not cause any issues for over a year, until I discovered it was gone for some time. Not sure if air intake temps can cause limp, but...

    Ils

Most of the modern cars do not have separate lights for flashing. The last bi-xenon car I had that did include h7 for high beams was a 2006 VW Jetta. That used the h7 for flashing if you had lights off, and with lights on used the HIDs and h7 for flashing and high beams. My current crop of Seat...

    engine idle too fast

My guess based on the above info is that your car is failing to do the regen and dumping diesel in the sump. This will cause the high oil and as said it will need to be addressed ASAP. If left it can get past the seals and cause a runaway. High idle speed could be caused by the regen currently...
