Considering selling my 507 and getting a C63s.

So the 9G has a lower first gear (which it just doesn't need) and one higher "cruise" ratio at the top. I'd have to agree with you, I wouldn't seek it out ! :)

Considering selling my 507 and getting a C63s.

Yes, it just has too many ratios for my liking (and that much torque) in road use.

Considering selling my 507 and getting a C63s.

I have the pre-facelift non-S version and I'm completely happy with it (it does have decent wheels though). I don't want an unnecessary 9-speed transmission or piped-in sound. Not sure I'd be able to use the extra 34bhp of the S version on the road anyway... and still keep a driving licence...

    CLS55 AMG Dyno Results

Dynos are really only good for getting relative data i.e. before and after making changes to a vehicle. Even then they can still be manipulated by changing the testing parameters (not suggesting that’s happened here). You got decent gains after the mods? Different dynos are known to give...

Wheel hub cap repair/replacement (C63s forged wheels)

I have the exact same wheels (good choice :thumb:) and had a problem getting one of the hubs off even with the correct tool. The centres (on mine at least) are actually a hard plastic sitting inside the alloy disc. The plastic screw part inside the hub (that you can't see) got damaged. I looked...

How long does it take to reach a decent oil temp?

I must be a bit of an engineering nerd because I’ve always taken note of the coolant and oil temps on my cars. Essentially every car I’ve owned which had the relevant sensors installed has warmed up the coolant fastest, followed by the engine oil, followed by the ATF. When parked up for an hour...

    My view on 204 vs 205 C63

Had my current 205 for 3 years and a 204 for 3 years before that. For me, the 205 has more grunt low down (below 3000rpm) than the 204 ever did (even after a remap). Agreed, there is slight lag (my pet hate) but that all but disappears above about 2500rpm... and they all come with an lsd as...

    S320 W220 Quick or Easy tune-ups.

And by sheer coincidence I just happen to have a Z1000J... with a decent lightweight exhaust... and a few jet/needle position changes too ! That's my old original one from the 1980's in my sig picture.

    M156 vs m157 amg engines c63 e63 amg

As an M177 owner (previously M156 owner) I too would be interested to hear from those who've also driven the M157 for comparison.

Fair point, can't argue with that ! 😃

    2015-2017 C63

It comes down to what you're going to use the car for. Unless you go on the track regularly, how much of the extra power (510 vs 476) can you use effectively on the road, the brakes on the cooking version are more than adequate and the diff does exactly what it's supposed to... but then maybe...

    2015-2017 C63

I have a 66 plate garden variety non-S and am more than satisfied with the mere 476 bhp and mechanical lsd. I quite like the fact that the engine and transmission are very under stressed in this model because however hard I choose to drive/abuse it, it's still well within the capabilities of the...

    M157 rev limit

Thanks for posting that. I was aware that it's a BM lump. I had an S65 V8 in my M3 a while back and that (along with the S85 V10) was supposed to have big-end shell bearing issues... if you believe the Americans ! All said, the S63 certainly puts out some good power, although I'm glad I went...

Just curious, but what issues have arisen with the S63. Thought they were supposed to be bulletproof !

    Exhaust

Are the MB dealers actually reducing the noise levels of older vehicles when the cars are being serviced, or are we just talking about the fact that all vehicles manufactured at the factory in the last two years are now quieter than the previous versions? (to meet latest EU regs)

    S205 C63 Estate - Tyre choice

I always find it difficult to tell to begin with because almost any good quality set of brand new tyres will feel better than a worn out knackered set of old ones ?

    oil smell C63 4.0

I've got a 66 plate too, and mine doesn't smell of burning oil. It has bit of an "under bonnet" smell when hot, but not particularly of oil. I've not smelt it on any others either.

    6 months in.....thoughts....

Standard tank size on both the W204 and W205 C63 is 66 litres. Not sure that an 80L tank was ever available, except maybe on the E class ?

E350Cdi Stage 1 Remap Dyno Variation vs Stock

Effectively, power is just the product of torque x rpm. You can gain power by pushing the same amount of torque further up the rpm range, or by increasing the torque at the same rpm. The only "confusing" thing is when the units to measure each are not consistent.

    Extended Warranty - C205 c63

Mine is a 66 plate with 29k and I tend to agree with the previous comments about the extended warranty. I don't think these cars have any major issues rumbling in the background. From personal experience I've found it more important to keep up the main dealer service and stay on good terms with...
