I thought so too, but there is a car in my drive which would not hold a vacuum but would hold pressure using oxygen free nitrogen for days. Filled it with refrigerant over a year ago and it’s still working. I tried two different sets of pumps and gauges to eliminate equipment issues as well...

The converse can be true, I have a vehicle which cannot hold a vacuum but will hold AC gas or nitrogen under pressure. I suspect the shaft seal on the compressor, but not going to replace it until it loses pressure. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
