Sat nav not showing correct position

Another thing worth checking is whether anything else might be interfering with the GPS antenna. I had a similar problem a few years ago where the sat nav would not show the correct location. Looked like there might have been a problem with the antenna until, for some reason that I can't now...

How to clean up corroded wheel nuts

You could possibly get them refurbished or replated, but might not be any cheaper than a new set? The people doing your wheels might be able to advise?

    Tyre pressure sensors

Assuming they are compatible sensors, they should not need coding. I have a set of alloys with winter tyres and when I bought them, with sensors fitted, the car picked up the new sensors after a few miles. Similarly, when I fitted new summer tyres to my regular alloys earlier this year, with the...

    Replacement park brake mechanism

I was amused by the way you say “stick your head in there”, having removed the panel above the pedals. You must be a circus contortionist 😀😊? I’ve had this happen on my E350 before, and as (bad) luck would have it, the same thing happened a couple of days ago. I took the panel off this afternoon...

    Towbar wiring for a W212 E350 estate 2011

You will have to remove the bumper, as the tow bar replaces the crash bar mounted behind the bumper. I also doubt whether you can just chop into your lighting cables with scotchlocks.

    E-Class Estate 2017 Hard Ride

You don't say what size wheels you have on your car, but if they are 19" they will give a harder ride. I have much the same car, with 18" wheels. I have another set of alloys with winter tyres, which are 17" and you do notice the difference when you swap between them, with the 17" giving a...

    Jacking S Class

Agree with the comments about scissor jacks. By all means keep one in the boot for an emergency which hopefully will never happen, but they are dodgy, unstable and potentially dangerous. For any regular use, a good quality low profile hydraulic is the way to go.

    Tailgate Stop/Lock switch

Thanks for those who have looked at my post, I guess no-one has come across this before. It's not exactly life or death, so I'll muddle along for now and if it lasts until the weather gets a bit warmer I'll have a closer look at how I can get the switch out so that I can see if I can find a...

    Tailgate Stop/Lock switch

My 2015 E350 has the dual switch on the tailgate for either closing the tailgate or closing it and locking the car. The close button (marked Stop) has become sticky and reluctant to work. Up to now it can usually persuaded to free itself by a combination of pushing and or thumping, but I'd...

    Quick brakes question

If your brake pads are wearing evenly and normally then that would point to the pistons working normally. Unless you're looking to overhaul the calipers there shouldn't be any need to bring the pistons further out of the caliper. If you're changing pads you will need to push or wind the...

Does this may be the cause of squeaking when turning?

Difficult to say whether this is the cause of your noise, but that joint has seen better days, to say the least. The rubber boot is well gone and looks like its been that way for a while, so road muck will have been getting in and won't have helped. I would say as well that if one part of your...

E220, w212, AMG night edition, sunroof not working

The fact the you hear a click suggests that power is getting somewhere at least. Not sure if the motor is activated by a relay, if it is that would be worth checking. Next stop would be the motor itself. Would imagine the relay, if applicable, would be quite a bit cheaper than the motor, and...

    Is Tyre Sealant worth using?

It might seal a minor puncture, although as said, it's likely that the tyre shop you take it to for repair won't like it. Any serious kind of puncture and it's likely to be a waste of time. I had a puncture last year and tried my sealant (which according to the date had expired) but then...

    tyre pressure sensor

Wouldn't have thought so. I bought a set of wheels with winter tyres a couple of years ago, not OEM, and the car picked up the sensors after a short drive, without any coding required. Probably the same for a replacement?

Can't decide on main dealer service or not

At first glance, it looks to me from what you say that you have pretty much answered your own question and the indie is the way to go. That said, it obviously depends on the relative merits of the dealer and indie in question. If the dealer has a good reputation and the indie is questionable...

    Ml 350 Alarm problems

I had the same issues with my E350 - alarm would go off randomly, sometimes when the car was parked, other times when you were driving. At the time I was too busy to look at it myself, so foolishly had it looked at by my local MB dealer. Problem fixed by replacing the siren unit, total cost...

    Snow chains or socks

Have a look at YouTube and search for something like "winter tyres vs summer tyres" and you'll see the difference. I bought an additional set of alloys with winter tyres for my E350. The car had 18 inch wheels, so I bought 17 inch with higher profile tyres for the winters, so the overall...

    TPMS question

They shouldn't need coding. I bought a set of alloys with winter tyres, checked with the supplier that they would be compatible and there wasn't any problem. When you swap the wheels over they might take a few miles to work - I just swapped to my winter wheels again last week and within a...
