    The wiper linkage behind the dash has come loose and cut the temperature sensor from the engine.I think it's a pipe filled with mercury.I have tried online and cant find a unit for sale.Has anybody fitted a different temperature gauge and was it a success. Thanks

    Hello Kimon.I have the same model car as you.Mine are seized closed.I have being told you dont need them unless you are in a really cold climate.If they are seized open they could effect the balancing of your Carbs.

    Thanks Alabbasi.I presume there is little difference between solid and vented so I will just go with new solid discs.I dont drive very fast so brakes dont overheat.Thanks again.

    My 280s is 1969.They changed the front discs from solid to vented half way through the year.The solid discs on mine have 10mm thickness.Do I need to change them they look years old.?And can I use the ventilated disc or will I need to change the calipers aswell.Thanks.

    Thanks Alabbasi Again.I know the plate you are talking about it has punch holes in parts of it but its missing from the radiator bar.There are no holes where a plate was.I think the plate was fitted somewhere else and is missing.Maybe because it's a south African its different not sure.Thanks.

    Does anyone know where the paint codes are found on a 1969 w108 280s.I have no original paperwork with car it's a south African import.I think it's called burgundy red.But need a code to get paint made up.? Thanks

    No sligo.Never bothered to put diesel in.Asked a old mechanic friend of my father's.He said he used to put nissan bluebird diesel engines in w108/w114/w115 in Dublin for taxi drivers for mileage reasons.Said he done it a couple of times and worked pretty well.The guy that I saw the 300 diesel...

    Vito 639 engine check light on cold start

    You said break light switch could be faulty a way to check for this is to fully depress the break before turning the key and then releasing the break if light comes on it could be a faulty break light switch which is located at the top of break pedal.Its a long shot but simple to test for.Good luck
