Yep thats like mine , the key doesn't have to be held in the start position.

Thanks for your help television, I was wondering if this problem was common or not, I assume when you flick the key to start & release it an ECU takes over to keep the starter cranking?

The anoying thing is it's always working perfectly when I come to look at it , Would the volt meter confirm any problem before I pull it to bits & does the motor come out easy?.
