    Re: Serpentine belt fitting

Yes, the idlers still turned but made a whirring noise when turned. Yes, really everything worked power steering, water pump(water temp was normal), air con. I'm sure we all know the sounds(or in the case of my Isetta & 2CV smells) of our respective cars but really nothing unusual until the...

    Re: Serpentine belt fitting

Quick update, given the talent & workmanship on this forum that sadly I don't have everything takes me a long time to do. Torx set arrives in the post but there is no mention in the ad that it is for a 3/8ths socket & not 1/2" so I had to order some adapters(6) from TEMU. I had no idea they were...

    Re: Serpentine belt fitting

Unfortunately when I got it off both the pulley & the tensioner itself was seized solid.

    Re: Serpentine belt fitting

Many thanks for the link. I had already bought a Mercedes belt. Are Ridex OK for the tensioner & pulleys? I also found the diagram for the belt which was very useful.

    Help needed with part number.

As per usual when I entered my VIN of WDB2112202B055872 it said it was not recognised. What am I doing wrong? I want to change the idlers & the tensioner too. I found the tensioner as A64 220 013 070 but cannot find the idlers. Where would they be? Many thanks. Rob.

    Re: Serpentine belt fitting

Poly V Serpentine belt snapped on Monday. I have the correct MB belt A002993429664(thanks for the help btw) & have been advised to check all the pulleys to find the cause of the failure. The 1st photo shows the old belt- it looks pretty ancient to me. I cannot find the exact belt diagram for...

    Help needed with part number.

The belt came off easily- there were no markings on it at all. It doesn't look in very good condition though. I have attached some photos to see if anybody can draw any conclusions from them. I wonder if something has seized & the lines on the smooth side are where it has been dragged around the...

    Help needed with part number.

Many thanks. Maybe it’s best I let the local mechanic look at it. The belt snapped for a reason & she’s coming up to 300k now so might be prudent. Thanks again everyone for your rapid help.

    Help needed with part number.

VIN number WDB2112202B055872 Can anybody confirm the part number as A0029934296- it's the serpentine belt for the power steering, water pump & alternator. I need to order one in France(in French) on the telephone so would like to be as prepared as possible. Whenever I use the online tools I seem...

Any good Mercedes Specialist in South London ?

Hi there. Apologies for the delay as I just saw your message. It was in Ruislip NW London(I can dig out the number if you need it) & they had done one the week before & maybe 7 or 8 before that. Of course the bill increased from the quote as X broke doing it & I always regretted having it done-...

    Urgent advice needed.

I live in rural France where after 31st October Winter tyres(or carrying snow chains)are obligatory in certain areas plus my house is at 1300ft above sea level with the roads constant slippery mud baths.
