Mercedes E280 Low Boost / Engine Noise

Yes ... As bad as that. That's pretty typical of what I find after 10,000 miles. I understand that you're supposed to tell the ECU that you've changed the filters using "STAR". I never do, and I never have any problems. I never notice any difference in engine performance after the filter change.

Mercedes E280 Low Boost / Engine Noise

Whenever I change the air filters, I'm always horrified by the amount of rubbish that there is in the filters. These engines draw in a large quantity of air. I suppose I should be happy that the filters are doing their job. I tend to change them every 10,000 miles, which I think is rather less...

Mercedes E280 Low Boost / Engine Noise

Shortly after I bought my W211 E280 cdi Sports Estate, I had major problem of low boost. It was cured by replacement of the turbo. Replacement came from Essex Turbos. I found them a very helpful company to deal with.

    Thermostat Brands

I obtained a Wahle stat from Autodoc for the C200 a couple of years ago. Good item .... No problems ... Good price too. The one I took out was same make and type.

    Paint damage in car park

Shopping centre car parks are a curse and a nightmare .... For all the above stated reasons. Some years ago, the late Mrs J used to visit the Owlcotes Centre near Pudsey (Leeds). I warned her repeatedly to park well away from the main area and in a side area which was less risky. Sadly she...

What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

I had the C200 Kompressor on charge today. It has a small parasitic battery discharge and I just need to watch it carefully in this cold weather when it's not had a lot of use. Job for when it's warmer. At the same time, I changed the power steering oil ......... MB Pt. No: A001 989 24 03 10...

How to choose your engine for any vehicle

I ran a straight-6 in the mid 1970s ..... An Austin A110 Mk II Westminster. This was a 3 litre motor. I bought it for £100 with a nackered engine, which I refitted and made a good runner out of it. It was comfortable with a fair bit of grunt, and it looked good. The handling was poor, as was the...

How to choose your engine for any vehicle

    You can't beat a petrol V8. I've been blessed to run two: - a 1974 Chevy 350 cid small-block V8 - a 2002 MB W210 E430 facelift Both were legendary motors.

    Kompressor life?

Hi W1ghty Is there a good write-up for the oil-change for the supercharger ? Type of oil - source - any filters - How-to - etc. ?? I've no reason to suspect any problems, but I can't believe it's ever been changed. This car had been pretty-shabbily maintained before I bought it. I could write a...

What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

I took the E280 cdi Sports Estate thru the "Albanian Car Wash" (!!) and then for its MOT test at 196393 miles. Passed .... No advisories ... :) Must have been a good car wash. It needed it - It was pretty filthy. I was relieved that there was no tyre damage or alloy wheel damage after...

My (new to me) E280 CDI Estate Experience

I drove from Leeds to Cobham in Surrey and back again over the past three days in the E280cdi Sports Estate. Partner and self with several bags of belongings. My (new to me) E280 CDI Estate Experience

I've run a 2009 E280 cdi Sports Estate for about 9 years and done around 85,000 miles in that time. It's been my work-horse and I've loved it. An awesome engine and well-equipped vehicle. Plenty of power and comfort. I've recently had to replace the tailgate struts ..... Something of a pain -...

    Dealer Parts Cheaper

Well - There's a surprise ........ NOT ! I have a difficult relationship with MB Leeds. Previous posts of mine have detailed poor service. The worst was when I tried several times to order an ABS sensor for a Type 126 E380SE. After several fob-offs of the "We'll ring you back" sort, I went and...

    2012 c220 cdi coolant issue

Check the concentration of anti-freeze in your coolant. The coolant should be a 50% solution of glycol-based anti-freeze. This significantly increases the boiling point. If the concentration is less, then the boiling point will be reduced accordingly and the coolant will boil and the system will...
