Interesting seeing different prices I’m paying £1300 yearly on my S63L W222 2016, 9yrs no claims and I’m in early thirties

MB EPC shows that yours is a wet clutch when I put in your VIN number, the torque converter also is there but grayed out and says not suitable for this model, really weird because we have the same transmission, must be different variations for different models. See picture below:

Must be down to the different variations of the 722.9 available for the S63. Even the technicians at MB dealer were a little confused lol

That is correct for the W212 E63. I have the S63L W222, my transmission is 722.931 which has the torque converter, only learned of this when I was shown the notes.

Final update: I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for your help. The issue has been resolved, it turned out to be low oil in the gearbox, 2 litres were added which cost close to £26 and the remainder was just diagnosis costs. Total cost £381 It was thanks to this thread and your help i...

Just a quick update: They checked the pulleys by taking the belt off, sadly they were still able to hear the noise without the belt working the pulleys. Gearbox oil level was fine also Next check is the Turbo which they most probably do on Monday.

Thanks guys, I have relayed this information back to the Mercedes technicians, hopefully they look in the right places. I will update shortly :-)

I had very similar symptoms back when I had my CLS 63 AMG, after replacing every spark plug, coil packs, camshaft sensor it turned out to be the o2 sensor that caused my misfire. The issue was the least expensive but the diagnosis by Mercedes was close to £700ish

Just to update the thread. The rattle was the Belt Tensioner which I had replaced yesterday at Mercedes after delay on part, rattle noise has gone. Whistle noise still there but Mercedes can't find the issue, so car back until something happens next time lol
