    All season longevity?

I just had a look at the Michelin US site and there's a review from someone going completely mad because his Michelin X Tour A/S 2 tyres are half worn at 27K! The odd thing is the treadwear rating is 240 - similar to what you'd get in the UK. It's supposed to be 15K miles per 100 treadwear...

    All season longevity?

I always marvell at the US mileage warranties on tyres - we don't get anything like that in the UK. One issue here is rotation isn't a thing - Costco UK, for example, won't do it. whereas they do it free in the US. Daughter has Michelin CrossClimates on her SEAT Ateca. I rotated them at...

Locked in car without a key, cannot open doors or windows, is this fault or bad design?

I thought it was a thing that Mercedes refused to fit deadlocks as they considered them dangerous? It certainly used to be the case - a quick Google finds the matter discussed. I think pretty well any other car would be deadlocked though - on some you have to press the fob twice (we had a...

    Taxed by the Mile

It always make me shudder when people say "it's cheaper to take the car than use public transport". Charging per mile makes it very easy to fix that!

    W213 glass cleaning

I use Autoglym Car Class Polish. It's quite chalky so I assume it absorbs grease etc but don't use much or it can end up all over the dash (if doing the inside of the windscreen) . I tend to use microfibre cloths now as I got a big pack from Costco, but used to use old tea-towels - if they're...

    Getting one wheel refurbed?

Perhaps I was unlucky but I tried a couple of places to get just the rears done on my car - they'd corroded around the valve holes but all the wheels were otherwise unmarked. Neither place would do just two. One place was quite rude too.

MB Selling their South London Dealerships

Bit off topic but daughter was Tuped from NHS to some random comapny that provides clinical services to the NHS. She has a choice - stay on NHS T's & C's but never (literally never) get a pay rise, or switch to the new company's T's & C's.

    HOW MUCH ????

Perhaps this is a last hurrah for dealers before everyone is in EVs!

    Bit harsh.

Same happened to a colleague for 102 on the M25. He was all set for a ban too as already had 6pts. He'd been stuck in traffic and was rushing to catch a flight. Odd really, you'd think they'd prioritise the very high ones. Or perhaps they're mainly focussed on just rounding people up for...

    BROADBAND PRICE HIKE

That's the inflation element - you should add on another 3.9% that the phone companies seem to think is perfectly reasonable to add on too. Wonder if the staff in these companies are getting 17% pay rises?

    Rear sub frame replacement

In the US MB has just extended the factory warranty on subframes to 20yrs.

Mercedes do not include AdBlue top up as part of A or B service

I recall seeing the service bulletin showing the extractor pump etc and I think the interval was 4yrs. Was surprised to see it - it's certainly not done on wife's VW.

Service Extras on low mileage car

The change to fixed annual servicing put me off changing my car. I recall looking at service costs on GLC 220d a few years ago and the second year service came up at £900 on MyService using my local dealer. It's a complete rip-off really, servicing is amazingly profitable for dealers. I'm...

W205 C Class Auxiliary Battery Malfunction warning - Beware of dealership incorrect charges if under Mercedes Extended Warranty !

I've had this sort of thing with other manufacturers and dealerships would rather get the customer to pay than have the bother of making a warranty claim and getting then getting a lower payment from the manufacturer warranty. The service department doesn't care that you're not happy as they're...

Car making loud droning after insurance crash repair

I guess this kind of thing is one reason why insurers seem keen to write cars off now. Was dismayed when daughter's Golf was bumped from behind by an Argos van whose driver was rubber necking an accident on the other carriageway. She claimed through her own insurance, LV=. Later, they had to...

    M6 toll services

I love the road - but not paying for it! Generally use it going South earlyish in the morning but I'm usually coming back during the day and use M40/M42/M5. I always think it's slightly ironic to pay to use the toll and then stop at the services ! Watch for unmarked police cars too - must...

    CLK passed MOT

I dumped my C270 earlier this year as I felt the MOT history made it practically worthless. It did always pass, but the indie who MOT'd put the most astonishing list of advisories on it every time - and then would tell me "it's fine"! I'd look up similar cars and they'd be completely clean...

    What’s happened to this ?

Mice ate into the body of a 5 litre container of car shampoo in my garage and the damage looks exactly the same as that.

w204 serviced today at mb for £138.64 value service

Different car, but no reason why work would be different and it was at an Inchcape dealer who also hold MB locally - I took daughter's Golf for its first service. They did an oil and filter change and basic safety check. It was in the workshop 20 mins. They washed and vac'd it too, and...
