    Ml270

Our ML270 2001 W163 model has recently given us some headaches. Initially the ESB/ABS cluster of lights came on. The local mech placed it on his diagnostic computer and announced that the LHR speed sensor was not working. After replacing it, it still did not work and after some more...

    ml 270 temp

Sounds like nothing to worry about, the thermostat is working correctly. The ML should have a constant temp of 87degrees, allowing for fluctuation and error in the guage, you have no problems. KenM

    Cheap ATF Dipsticks for 722.6##

I have just had my auto flushed and serviced. I gave the garage my cheap eBay dipstick and they painted the bottom white and put a cable tie on the top level with the dip stick tube for me. Very impressed with the service and the resulting performance of the auto. KenM:D

Auto transmission leak 4k after service

Btbuk, If you care to read my original statement, I did say that "this may not be the case in this incident." However, it may seem like I am critising you, but I am also trying to help you. If you paid good money to have a job done, then you would expect it to be done correctly. (I have no...

Auto transmission leak 4k after service

My posting definetely was NOT about blaming someone. Merely pointing out the facts of owners who "could perform a simple task, like tightening up bolts." :dk: Bolts could now be over torqued and stripped, pan twisted, gasket destroyed, etc.:wallbash: Of coarse, I hope that non of the above...

Auto transmission leak 4k after service

Sometimes owning a vehicle can be frustrating, but working on them for a living is even more frustrating. Many years ago when I was in the trade, the one thing I used to hate was, and I am not saying that this is the case in this incident. That was when an owner had had some work done, for...

    Sorry

When I used to own an indie mechanical workshop, I once gave an apprentice a good lecture about treating ALL customers equal. We specialised in Jaguars and other prestige vehicles. One day a customer came to us withwhat could best be described as a very ordinary car. It was repaired as...

    ML for an A class?!

Hi, I had a 2001 A160 auto, used it as a driving school car. At least five different drivers everyday, racked up a total of 145,000km before trading it in. That is 145,000 trouble free km's. Mainly serviced it myself, including the auto. Went to trade it in on a new A170. Test drove...

Not impresses with Merc customer service so far...

Unfortunately we have only one dealership in our city, the other one is 250km away. This has led to a "don't give a damn, attitude" In the past seven years I have tried to buy three mercs from this dealership, each time have been treated like S&^t. Salesmen who are rude, don't bother...

    Mercedes Benz Dealer Stole my...

Be thankful that the dealership does not read this thread or forum. You could not possibly win this in a court of law. And, the continuing rant is not helping your case. KenM

    ml270/w163 whooshing noise from engine

Our Ml has covered 320,000km (about 200,000miles). Apart from the usual "black death" it has been a very reliable vehicle. I simply love it, hence I repaired it, rather than trade it in. Plus, second hand with that mileage on it, it would be worth little. (About $15,000Aud) Also repaced...

Is this the most expensive Petrol price ?

Boy, oh boy. And I, with a lot of others, thought we had it tough here in Australia. There has been numerous enquires by the consumer watch dog into "price fixing" by the petrol companies. No results, no collusion.:dk: Yeah, right.:wallbash: Easter break coming up, fuel prices go up...

    ml270/w163 whooshing noise from engine

Winterman, First, I should point out that I am in Australia. Where anything with a MB badge is priced for the ultra rich. Example, new manifold $1,200Aud (778GDP), the dealer, there is only one here in Hobart, Tasmania who does not want to work on cars any older than five years.:wallbash...

    ml270/w163 whooshing noise from engine

Recently had the same symptoms. Replaced manifold, oil seperator and fixed the EGR, kept old manifold and modified it in case of need for the future. The indie garage charged me five hours labor to remove and replace the manifold. KenM

    Drl ml270

Am in the process of fitting a set of DRL's to my 2001 ML270. The instructions sayto connect the white wire to the ignition supply. As I don't want to rip the interior apart, can anyone tell me if there is some place else to get to the ignition power supply? I was thinking the ECU? Any...

    Ml 270 cdi

The early ones 1999-2000 are known to be troublesome. Look at the updated version from 2001 onwards, recognised by the 17" wheels, clour coded bumpers with fog lights and indicators in the mirrors. KNown problems:- Leaking oil out of bottom of inlet manifold. (worn swirl valves in...

    ML270 inlet manifiold leaking

I have just had the indie guy I use do this job. I supplied a new Generic manilfold I purchased from MBS in Denmark, the manifold needed a little filing to fir correctly, otherwise very good. The old manifold was leaking from the spindles and the swirl valves where shot, on linkage on number...
