When I first got my CLS I had some problems with the seat - or rather my body didn't like the new driving position. Was fine for first 2 weeks but then I had a few weeks where any journey over 1hr was causing me lower back pain. I noted similar comments from other E class and CLS owners and...

It would be a brave gamble, but what a car (even if it only lasted a year until something major went pop).

Get it cheap....run it til it drops (may not be far!) and then scrap it. If it lasts a while then you have a great combo of bangernomics motoring and a cool ride.

Conti SC3's on my CLS are excellent - no complaints at all. Seem to be lasting a long time as well. Always had Bridgestones on other cars which were very good too.

Have seen 237k miles on a 220cdi - car felt pretty solid from the passenger seat. Not a patch on 500k though ! - wow.

Personally I like met. silver...and I think it looks great on all Mercs...and it does have that special link with the brand (kind of like Alfa Red). Personally I like the solid red on quite a few Mercs too.

Quite surprised to see a thread being positive about Diamond Brite - all other times (on other car forums...not MB) it's been pretty negative and no one recommends it. I've always steered clear - although must admit in theory it sounds great.

Yep - too much cash...and not enough sense and/or skill. Such a waste.

Surely depends on where and how the car is used...and how well looked after it is. We used to have a lot of Alfa's and never had any trouble with them (since the 80's) but they were always washed/polished and had proper TLC......however I saw plently which resembled orange collanders.

For 99% of the general motoring public I doubt anyone will ever assess or even notice these ratings. They'll go for price....and/or whatever Kwik Fit happen to have on the shelf.

Very nice - great example of Merc class. Does seem pricey despite unique-ness (is that a word?).

Recently did 500 miles in one day in my CLS - total wafting comfort and effortless. Averaged 42mpg and wasn't hanging around either. Definitely the type of driving that Merc's were built for.
