s212 self levelling rear suspension too high

thank you! Interesting I'm not the only person to have experienced this. Sounds like good advice but in a whole different world of technical competence from the one I inhabit! was hoping there might be an answer that began 'scroll to the settings menu on the dash' [emoji23][emoji23] If it is a...

s212 self levelling rear suspension too high

Yesterday I had to scrabble about in the boot a bit to put the parcel cover back in. Today I nipped out to the shops and on the way back I get a 'car raising, please wait' message and the rear end got very bouncy. The rear self levelling suspension has gone full monster truck! Any thoughts on...

    Weekend fun car dilemma

Amazing coincidence that! Yes I had gathered that was the next project, this one must just have started feeling a bit slow as it runs out of revs at 7.5k. Just hoping he doesn't have a change of heart before this afternoon.

    Weekend fun car dilemma

Ha ha I wondered if it was the same WEMorgan! Dyno results in May this year were 149bhp at the hubs which he reckons equates to about 190 at the flywheel.

    Weekend fun car dilemma

Interesting question, I have sorted temporary cover but need to speak to some of the specialist insurers early next week. I believe Ste has it insured on an agreed value basis for somewhat more than the sale price but I suspect less than the build price...

    Weekend fun car dilemma

I have hardly slept since putting the deposit down on Wednesday I am so excited... It is a real labour of love- there is an 80 odd page build thread on the forum but seems he must be one of those people who needs a project! Also a very good driver by the looks - here is the car in action...

    Weekend fun car dilemma

Bit of a thread revival and a while since I posted on here. Just thought you might be interested - got the MX-5 and although it was not trouble free I have had a lot of fun getting her sorted out and some great track days this summer. However I learnt that a big build project is probably not...

    Summer hols

What you see there is for three adults (including au pair) and two children for a fortnight. Only five years ago we were a childless couple and could do a trip away with a couple of holdalls :wallbash: Was a bit worried about whether the rental at the other end would fit all the junk - had...

55k engine - removing the 4k rev limit?

What do you do on eg track day noise tests when you have to rev to 80% of maximum? Suppose the answer is don't take your S class merc!

    Surely not #2!

Whilst towing a jumbo jet maybe?

    Surely not #2!

I don't get how 800bhp can be useable on a car like this - surely the high centre of gravity and useless aerodynamics would just make it unstable the minute you started to make use of the power?

    Snetterton 21 April

A couple of pictures of me in the shed on Monday, and one of Mrs BigSilver - a slightly reluctant petrol head! Brilliant day and nothing in the car actually broke. That said, handling on 23 year old shock absorbers was lively to say the least - one had to be very respectful of the brakes and...

    Snetterton 21 April

Anyone else going to the track day on Easter Mon? I'll be there very gingerly testing the limits of the MX5, and Mrs BSE has agreed to come along with me.

    Interesting CLS

Just saw this in Trafalgar Square (wasn't quick enough to get a picture of my own. http://forums.finalgear.com/vehicle-sighting-photos/a-four-door-mercedes-cls-convertible-26945/page-2/ Very, er, striking. Monster exhausts, do you think it's a diesel? Anyone seen it before?

    Have I started a trend? :)

Well as I now own one it'd have to be the mk1 MX5! I bought it having tried out a couple and thinking it was a reasonable compromise but having spent more time in it, am surprised how much I am falling for it :-) no matter how tatty. Also finding it quicker as I get more used to the best way of...
