    CLS Body Panels

Strangely enough my CL500 is made from aluminium, and does not rust. Although the paint does bubble when professional painters do not use acid etch primer. Which is why I am asking.

    CLS Folding Rear Seats

Gentlemen Can you tell me please, in what years did Mercedes offer folding rear seats as an option on the CLS? And was it popular? Thanks, but I have heard that they are available but cannot seem to find any.

    Over Active Parktronic Sensors

I pulled the plastic trim off and degreased / cleaned the Bosch sensors. Put it back together all in about 30 mins. WOW what a difference, the system works like a new one now. Thanks again to the guy who first said clean them.

    Over Active Parktronic Sensors

Gentlemen Is there any way that I can dampen down the sensitivity of my 2002 CL500's proximity sensors. They are always giving false warnings at the front. I have heard that painting both parts of the sensors might do the trick, but Mercedes says no it will just mess things up, can you guys...

    Xenon Bulbs

I need to change the dipped head light bulb on a 2002 CL500. The user manual says I must take the job to the main dealer. Why is there anything that stops this from being a DIY job?

2002 CL500 stuck in low gear

THERE'S MORE The above was not the only fault as the box stopped auto-changing the next time I got it really warm, then worked again when it cooled. Had to have the gearbox's electric controller circuit board replaced which added another £400 to the bill.

2002 CL500 stuck in low gear

Yes Maz, That was the exact problem. I found that I could top up the ATF level through the dipstick hole with a couple of litres of Red 134, then the car worked well enough to take in to the local Merc specialist. Repair cost £220.

2002 CL500 stuck in low gear

Gentlemen My car stopped changing gear today, stuck in 2 or 3rd. gear. I dipped the auto box and found it to be dry. Can I just fill up and drive on? If so, can you name the transmission oil?

    ATF Oil Change

Thanks for your reply, of course I do not know if the current ATF level is OK. Can you point me towards an article explaining how to do the job properly please.

    ATF Oil Change

Gentlemen I wish to change the ATFluid on my 2002 CL500. Why can I not just insert my engine oil sucker tube down the gearbox dipstick tube, suck out the old ATF oil, and then replace it with the same amount of new ATF?

    Engine Starter Relay?

Gentlemen Thank you for your help and concern about my reluctant to start CL500 over the past few weeks. The problem was a breaking down EIS, and now that my local Mercedes Specialist has fitted a new one all is good once again. The Ignition switch cost about £400, fitting about £100 plus...

    Engine Starter Relay?

Thanks again DASH 1 for those knowlegable posts. The CL500 has been at the Merc. Specialists for 5 days now, yet his STAR is still unsure what the problem is. Best guess is the EIS itself so he is going to change that. If that does not work, then I will present him with your ideas if you do not...

    Engine Starter Relay?

Dash1 I regret to say that I have been overtaken by events, the intermittant fault has become a permanant one. The car would not start at all and was stuck in PARK in Tesco's Car Park. So I have had to have it taken away and dumped at my Local Mercedes Specialists. I am now waiting on him and...
