Leaving Mercedes and heading back over to BMW.

It’s not a huge issue on the 3 litre diesel, this was more an issue on the smaller 4 cylinder diesel.

Leaving Mercedes and heading back over to BMW.

There are a few Mercs Id still like to own at some point including the Facelift W212 E63, SL55 AMG and potentially another W204 C63 Coupe. Dont get me wrong my W212 E250 CDi was a great car, drove well, very comfortable but it never gave me the fizz. I never turned around when parking it up...

Leaving Mercedes and heading back over to BMW.

Yep but the 3 litre 6 cylinder BMW is a peach of an engine and sounds really good as well. The wheels are 19" but doesnt have adaptive suspension.

Leaving Mercedes and heading back over to BMW.

Well, I have been with Mercedes for the past 12 months. Bought my 2013 Mercedes C220 CDI AMG Sport Plus Coupe in black in June 2023. Sold it after 6 months. December 2023 purchased an extremely clean and low mileage E250 CDi AMG Sport 2014 model, saloon. Sold it within the past few days. I...

What makes the perfect Winter car

Interesting you say that but my Dad has had his 2015 Range Rover Sport for 3 years and not had a single issue with it. Been serviced each year, never driven hard and always pampered. I think a lot of owners abuse these cars, don’t look after them, neglect servicing and drive them like they have...

Do we still have engine snobbery?

I think when it comes to diesels whether it be a 4 or 6 cylinder on the whole they sound pretty much the same. Cruising at 70-80 on the motorway, it doesn’t really matter if you have an E220 or E350, neither sound particularly v8 like and both have an agricultural sound to them that all diesels...

Do we still have engine snobbery?

I did test drive one and honestly apart from a little bit more power when driving the E350 hard, there is a small difference but day to day driving I just couldnt see the difference. I had a budget and either the E250 or E350 was my choice as both are commuting workhorses. Noise wise again...

Do we still have engine snobbery?

How is it much better? My E250 is super smooth, extremely refined and quiet and returns high 40’s MPG. Apart from the slight performance difference, in what way is it much better?

Do we still have engine snobbery?

I have to say that on this forum and other forums there really does appear to be a bit of a snobbery around the ‘lesser’, ‘smaller’ 4 pot engines. Having had a C63, C55, E350 CDi, M3’s, M5’s And various other high performance cars, I am as happy as Larry with my ‘inferior’ E250 CDi AMG Sport...

    W212 E250 Sluggish

Recently acquired my 2015 E250 CDi with just 62k miles on the clock. The car runs like a dream and is super smooth. However Iv noticed that once the car is warmed up, say you’re at 60 on the motorway and floor it, the revs rise and performance is mega sluggish, really struggles to pull and feels...
