Monoblade Wiper Maintenance - do it now!!

Agreed, it's not particularly hard to take the entire assembly apart and put it back together again. There was one circlip that you'll need to remove from memory. Spraying grease in there won't remove the old stuff which as I said was like wax, and was massively increasing the operating...

Monoblade Wiper Maintenance - do it now!!

http://www.w124performance.com/service/w124CD2/Program/Chassis/82-0680.pdf Alignment is mentioned in Step 12 of Installation (RHD only). You need to be 180 degrees out for LHD. Recommend operating motor by hand before applying power, to make sure you've installed correctly, or you could strip...

    M111.960 Occasional Stall When Cold

Aghajaved, I don't have the workshop information system on hand to look up any spec, but perhaps another member could. You'd be best posting a new topic I'd say. Regarding your engine, it all depends on how many km you've done, the conditions under which the engine was operated, oil change...

    M111.960 Unknown Cable

Thanks for the pointers, have replaced this cable. MB calls it the 'positive battery cable', 1245403430. Also includes wiring to oil pressure sender.

    W124 Fueling Troubles

Just a note on noisy fuel pumps, on mine, even after replacing with a new OE pump and filter, had the same LOUD whining noise after trips > 2 hours on the highway. Ended up replacing the fuel pressure regulator (5 minute job) and the fuel pump noise issue, to my ears sounds fixed. I've done...

    M111.960 Occasional Stall When Cold

Another follow-up here, and on the same theme that a car approaching 20 yrs of age, will have more than one thing wrong with it. I checked the resistances on the spark plug (high-tension) leads. The readings were changing between 0 - 30k ohms whenever I moved the cable around. On closer...

    M111.960 Unknown Cable

Hi, I have a M111.960 (W124 E220) with a badly worn cable that I have tried to trace but for the life of me cannot find where it goes or comes from. I've searched part numbers, but the only ones available were on a generic connector which is used throughout the car. Does anyone familiar...

    Engine Fan won't stop

On my W124 fan is controlled by a thermostat on the thermostat housing st the front of the engine. It's failsafe so that if it goes open circuit, then the fan relay is commanded to operate the fan. So if the setup is similar, check whether you have an open circuit on that thermostat.

    W124 Replacing ignition leads only

Hi, does anyone have experience replacing only the ignition leads and internal metal pin, while reusing the boots and suppressor plugs? In the attached image (LHS) I'm talking about reusing parts 89 and 74 while replacing 71 and 65 only. Doing this will save about $400. Thanks.

    M111.960 Occasional Stall When Cold

For live data, check this post: HFM Scanner Software by Misha - PeachParts Mercedes ShopForum I wouldn't make that a priority though as your car doesn't show any faults as you say. Regarding vacuum lines, this is some research I also need to do myself also. You could take the car to a shop...

    M111.960 Occasional Stall When Cold

The CTS was indeed faulty. Replacement yielded a much smoother and responsive engine. It seemed to slightly reduce the tendency to stall when cold. My thoughts are that the issue is not a direct cause of any one particular thing. Rather, it's a combination of things that all add up to cause the...

Monoblade Wiper Maintenance - do it now!!

And one more thing... if you're not 100% sure you put it back together correctly, operate the motor gently by hand before powering it up the first time. I was sure glad I did that. When I took it all apart I used a marker so I could line everything up for when I put it back together. When I was...

Monoblade Wiper Maintenance - do it now!!

I thought it was worth a quick note to re-emphasise the importance of preventive maintenance on the monoblade wiper mechanisms. Mercedessource describes it well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3IPjKgC5AQ In mine, the grease had turned to a wax-like compound after 20 years of use. I...

    W124 door pocket/card repairs performed

Pic 1: tape folded and inserted under clip to lift it up so that it constantly applies suitable tension. Pic 2: mushroom head screw 6mm x around 20mm. This is screwed into one of the mushroom-headed plastic dowels that secure the map pocket. The mushroom part had snapped off. You need to drill...

    W124 door pocket/card repairs performed

Did some repairs on the W124 door map pocket over the weekend. The pocket wasn't attached securely due to broken tabs. This caused annoying rattles and creaks every time I drove over a bump. Thought I might share the methods used, some I did find in this and other forums. Cannot say methods...

    M111.960 Occasional Stall When Cold

Hi, I have been an avid reader of posts on this forum for a year or so now and have been able to resolve various minor issues with my beloved W124 E220 (M111.960) - thanks to all the members out there. Time for my first post to the board... The car has been immensely reliable over the years...
