W124 Coupe Rear interior light, trunk light and seatbelt presenter dead

My passenger seat belt presenter, rear interior light and trunk light have all stopped working. They're all on the same fuse but it's fine. Any pointers where to look next? Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

W124 E220 down on power, mpg

Finally got the garage to have a look into this. They immediately noted the throttle cable was a bit slack and tightened it up correctly and wow, what a difference! Feels like a different car! It now drives as perkily as my old one so I'm very happy. Doesn't explain the mpg but I'll keep an eye...

W124 E220 down on power, mpg

Cheers for the swift, detailed response! In terms of s misfire how rough are we talking? The engine does sound coarser than my old one but it's not lumpy. Going to get the garage to look at the throttle adjustment and cam adjuster in a couple of weeks Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

W124 E220 down on power, mpg

Recently acquired a '96 E220 coupe but it is noticeably down on power compared to the one I owned until recently (same age, similar mileage). I'm also getting worse fuel economy - 28mpg if I'm lucky on a motorway run when my previous one would consistently return 30-32mpg. Anything I should I...

W124 no power after charging battery

Hi guys Left my E220 coupe with the interior light on and drained the battery... So I removed it, charged it, put it back in and went to start the car. There was a pop like a fuse blowing and then nothing - completely dead. There's 13.2V at the battery, double checked I hadn't got the polarity...

W124 late model coupe rear bumper

I'm after a decent bumper for my 1996 E220 coupe. Azurite blue would be perfect but I'm sure I can get another colour sprayed to suit. Cheers, Dickie

Decent W124 late model coupe bumper

Does anyone know where I can get a decent rear bumper for my 1996 E220 coupe? I was rear-ended this week and though the garage can repair the current bumper they'd prefer to fit a replacement but they can't seem to find one. Managed to get the third party insurers to agree to pay for the...

W124 E220 Loud ticking - worse when hot

Counting the ticks seems to line up nicely with 1/4 engine rpm so looks like that rules out valves etc. But opening the oil cap whilst running didn't seem to present the noise from within the engine at all (just a low humming sound, I assume the noise a valvetrain makes whilst straddling...

W124 E220 Loud ticking - worse when hot

Thanks for the swift replies gents. With regard to the valves, what would cause them to make a tapping noise? And I did wonder if it was exhaust related but the sound doesn't seem to be coming from it or the heat shields (I've got one of those mechanics stethoscope things). Bruce - I've read...

W124 E220 Loud ticking - worse when hot

I have an 1995 E220 with the M111 engine, and it has developed a pronounced ticking/tapping noise. It started last autumn and I assumed it was one of the tappets - it is directly linked to engine rpm and seems to be coming from the top of the engine, near the back. I had the headgasket done over...

    W124 Head Gasket...

Thanks for the swift response guys. I couldn't think of any specific tasks that only a Merc specialist could get right, and if it goes wrong after a week then I'd have every right to get it fixed for free by whoever had done it. I've got a couple of quotes now around the £1000-1200 mark...

    W124 Head Gasket...

So my '96 E220 coupe is finally demanding I spend a whole wedge of money on it... It has been drinking large quantities of coolant so I took it to a West London specialist and they've diagnosed the CHG. Head will need a skim and it turns out it also needs a new timing chain (it's stretched)...

    W124 electric mirrors not working

FIXED! Turns out I was being a bit of a numpty - when I first checked the connector on the back of the switch for power, the ignition wasn't on! I'd assumed that as the windows had power surely the mirrors would too... So the switch was at fault all along. I found this thread on this forum...

    W124 electric mirrors not working

That wiring diagram's great, thanks Dave. With the ignition on there's power at the fuse, so carpets up over easter... Is the Special equipment connector on the driver's side on RHD cars? I can only seem to find info/pictures about it on LHD cars, and I know Mercedes didn't bother to swap...

    W124 electric mirrors not working

I triple-checked the fuses then cleaned them and checked again for luck. Still no power at the switch. Is there another connector in-line somewhere in the wiring loom for the mirrors? Not sure what else to try now...

    W124 electric mirrors not working

Got the console up and everything was connected as it should be. Pulled the connector off the back of the switch and found there's no power getting to the connector... Time for another look at the fuse box I guess?

Brilliant, thanks for the advice - I'll have a look under the console tomorrow. I'll let you know what I find...

    W124 electric mirrors not working

Hi guys I've just acquired a lovely 1996 W124 E220 coupe, and everything electrical works bar the wing mirrors. I suspected a fuse but according to the manual they use the same fuse (fuse 'B') as the seatbelt butlers and they both work... Checking out the fuse box anyway I couldn't find any...

    Hello!

Hi all, I just became the proud owner of my first Mercedes, a 1996 W124 E220 coupe and thought I'd introduce myself, no doubt I'll be looking for help soon! It's Azurite blue with mushroom leather, almost no rust, 120k miles and everything works bar the electric mirrors and passenger vanity...
