W221 S350 Diagnosing Worn Engine Mounts

Perhaps I've managed to clear up the confusion from emails with ZF: 221 240 35 17 is the left/passenger side, equivalent to 42793 01 Lemforder, which is available. 221 240 36 17 is the driver's side, available from Mercedes. So if I order one of each, I'd have a pair. One Mercedes parts...

W221 S350 Diagnosing Worn Engine Mounts

Thanks, Autodoc gave me only one part number for both: Lemforder 42793 01, but they list it as for the left side and Lemforder/ZF say it's only compatible for the left side: "It appears we only produce the part to fit the left side now the predecessor did fit both sides but a lot of the...

W221 S350 Diagnosing Worn Engine Mounts

Yes, it's all a bit baffling, but my chassis number is a little prior to A376853, so according to the screenshot in your thread, my part numbers will be different. According to Autodoc, there are all sorts of mounts that will fit my car, so either they're all much the same or Autodoc is full of...

W221 S350 Diagnosing Worn Engine Mounts

It's got 120k, so their day is likely done, but getting the mounts might be a challenge if this thread is anything to go by, although I think my car might be slightly older than that one. Autodoc gives me a few alternatives that don't match up to the MB part numbers.

W221 S350 Diagnosing Worn Engine Mounts

Thanks. It's my strong suspicion, but my garage was doubtful and not fully on-board with my mission to replace half the car, hence my request for confirmation from anyone who's seen this before.

OM642 Repeated Vacuum Pump Failure / Oil Feed Issue

Mercedes Glasgow did it to our car and it worked fine for a whole year, although we eventually returned the car to Mercedes and got a refund because due to the unknown engine change, they couldn't warrant the mileage.

W221 S350 Diagnosing Worn Engine Mounts

I've been trying to track down a vibration in my S350 with limited success and have wondered if engine mounts are the problem. This video shows the engine being revved while the car is in Drive with the brake held down. Is this amount of movement in the engine normal? Is the rather strange noise...

W213 E220 2.0D Fumes & Smoke from back of engine

It turns out that the fumes are coming from some of the EGR pipework down the back of the engine, which is going to be a very big job to fix, although the part itself will be inexpensive.

W213 E220 2.0D Fumes & Smoke from back of engine

Black I think -- it's diesel or exhaust fumes rather than oil. Smells like fumes from a Webasto night heater or something like that.

OM642 Repeated Vacuum Pump Failure / Oil Feed Issue

Just saw this seven years later. The problem on our car was that some wally had fitted an engine from an E280, which has different holes in the cylinder head for supplying oil to the pump, so the vacuum pump kept failing. Drilling a hole in the cylinder head cured the oil supply problem, but...

W213 E220 2.0D Fumes & Smoke from back of engine

My E220 brings fumes into the cabin, which comes from visible smoke at the back of the engine. It seems to go come and go with a different note to the exhaust, rather like the sound of an exhaust brake. I can't see any obvious cause. Are there any know issues that might cause this?

W221 OM642 S350 Slight Oil Leak - What is this part?

I have a slight oil leak coming from the left rear of my engine. It appears to be from the area of the large round plastic valve (?) with two tubes connected to it. The following image of a Chrysler OM642 engine shows the part I mean...

    W221 NTG 3.5 - Firmware updates?

I've been searching without success for information about firmwaer upgrades for NTG 3.5. I am not talking about the map, but the system. Has there been upgrades and if so can I find a list of changes somewhere? I am particularly interested in finding out if it is possible to get SMS...

Is the EGR valve normally so hard to remove? (W221)

My mechanic tapped so hard that he broke one of the lugs at which point I decided this was a bid severe considering we just wanted to check it. Maybe I should put lashings of penetrating fluid on it and try again. Thanks for responding.

Is the EGR valve normally so hard to remove? (W221)

The EGR valve in my S-Class is firmly stuck in place -- barely moves a mm with all sorts of belting and hammering, and apart from the two screw holes there is not much to get a hold of. Is this normal? Does the fact that it is so stuck in place indicate that it is clogged up with carbon?

    W221 Headlight Unit Adjustment

I have a facelift W221 and the NS headlight is slightly too far back. Does anyone know if it is possible to adjust the position of the unit without removing the bumper? Thanks

Making Sense of Data Downloaded from Instrument Cluster

We have a list of the entries downloaded using STAR DAS from the Instrument Cluster and just trying to work out what each of the entries mean. Some are obvious like km, days and distance since last service. Others are less clear. Can anyone enlighten me about the following: Tester...

OM642 Repeated Vacuum Pump Failure / Oil Feed Issue

We are now on to our third brake vacuum pump on a car with this engine and they are failing quickly, which may suggest that the oil is not feeding to the vacuum pump. I understand, however, that it is impossible go investigate this properly without removing the left cylinder head to check the...
