Following on from the Great Bike debate .....

A viewpoint is that cyclists are using the (note) Public Highway for their pleasure / commute and should be licenced and pay their way in order to use them. This sparked a thought off that would seem argumentative in that thread, which is not the intention, but is a relevant spin-off from it...

    Bike Carrier.

Does anyone have roof rack and bike carriers for an S210. I have contacted Halfords and the price just kept going up with all the bits and pieces needed. I have two bikes I want to carry on the roof. I don't like the rear mounted carriers and would not use them. Thank you for looking:)

    Better Brakes, Car or Bike??

Following on from a discussion that was in danger of highjacking another thread, which has better brakes, a car or a bike. So far we've had: "Surely the bike will be outbraked by any reasonable car? Just think 4 reasonably sized contact patches against (effectively) 1 very small one. " and...

Just completed 1500 miles on my bike

In the last week of May 2009 I decided to try out commuting by bike. On the way home last night my trip computer hit 1500 miles. I was determined to see it click over so was watching it like a hawk and trying not to crash (that would have been ironic....). Anyway, that equates to 100 commutes...

Hit by cyclist with electric bike

Yesterday on the way home, I was hit on the rear quater panel by an elderly gentlemen riding a powabike electic bike. this has left a nice big dent above the wheel arch and right on the swage line. The bike was completely undamaged. The guy was taken to hospital with hip pain and I called the...

    Bike Advice

I have the need to upgrade my 13 year old Trek 830 mountain bike. I will use the cyclescheme at work to get a good deal, and can afford to look at bikes up to £1000. I plan to cycle to work [15 mile round trip] in the City and get the family out with me on trails/paths at weekends - I'm...

Dont Forget That You Have A Cycle Rack + Bike On Your Roof!

This is what my brother did to his 53 Reg 530d last night: He entered a Carpark with one of those Max Headroom signs on it, the mountain bike was forced back along the roof rails and into the window! He carries the bike on their nearly all the time for the past 2 years aswell. I reckon...

    Choosing a bike...

Yes, bike as in bicycle... I've somehow let myself be convinced to cycle to Paris in 24 hours (or attempt to...) I'm going to train on my old mountainbike which I've dragged out of the shed, but I'm thinking I should get something more appropriate for the actual trip... Probably not a...

Riding Motorbikes without a bike licence

I passed my car test in 1982. I know the law has changed much since then (when I could ride a 125 on L plates). Is there any sort of bike I can jump on today and ride without undertaking any sort of test? Could I ride a 50cc scooter? Cheers.

How do you not see a police bike on your tail

Was trundling along the Exter stretch of the M5 this afternoon, when I hear a siren, notice the car behind move from the third to second lane and see the police bike coming up, light on and sirens wailing. Wasn't that much space to my left, but enough that I could put two wheels in the centre...
