Anyone else getting really slow broadband?

Friday, 6.30pm...my 40meg Infinity broadband is currently running at 0.05meg. Is anyone else's running slow too? The BT help page says the problem is ongoing but can't find anything else on the net about it?

    Best Broadband?

I am looking for the best Broadband only deal. Ideally a network that doesn't grind to a near halt from 2pm..and also has good customer service when you need to call them. Can anyone recommend a good provider that doesn't cost a bomb? By the way, avoid Tiscali, they are pants :( Cheers Steve

    Broadband Speed v Usage

I hope this is not a silly question. I use BT Internet as my provider. Recently I got an email warning me that I was coming near to my monthly usage limit. I have a very slow broadband speed -on checking with BT, it says it is between 0.256 -2MB with estimated speed 1MB (?) My question is -...

    Good honest broadband, from Yorkshire?

I'm starting to think "my ****" now... I'm with these guys but today they've emailed me pushing an add-on. Have a look at the following page. Namely the first blue chart 'How does it work', and then expand the drop down a bit further down labelled 'How is traffic prioritised?'...

    Increase your broadband speed!

Although I pay O2 for 8 mbps my line is only rated at 3.5 (due to distance from exchange). Typical actual speed was about 2.5, measured by Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test After talking to a colleague at work I tried changing the microfilter that the router was attached to for...

    Mobile Broadband - Dongles etc

At the end of last year I bought a second home – a cottage in the sticks with over half an acre. Although I haven't checked, I think I would have to pay BT's connection charge if I want to re-instate a landline. So I'm attempting to drag myself out from the dark ages and am swotting up on...

    Broadband, Phone TV options

Hi We are moving house next month and I am going to take the opportunity to rethink my Broadband, Phone and TV options. At the moment we have it all with SKY and it has crept up to £36 a month, which whilst not extortionate by any means I wonder if there are better options available now...

Virgin 50mb fibre optic broadband help

Anyone got this? I'm thinking of taking the plunge as apparently it's available to my house. Would I notice the speed increase from say 20 to 50, i.e. Is it proportional? Its just for surfing, I'm not a big downloader but I do work at home so it gets used a lot. I've currently got sky...

    Superfast broadband

What a great idea to charge from 1st October everyone with a telephone line 50p per month. This will go to providing those who already have a fast broadband service with a superfast service by 2017. This will cover 90% of the country but be paid for by 100%, including those with very slow...

What a difference my new broadband speed makes.....

Just had a BIG moan at BT and they have now lifted my download speed from about 300k/sec to nearly 5m/sec. Amazing what some strong threats do. The bottom line is that my son (who is a local radio DJ) buys and downloads many of his tunes. Last week he downloaded 26 tunes from one site. Before...

    BT or Sky Broadband?

I haven't searched the forum as these things change almost weekly. I am currently an orange broadband customer and have been less than thrilled with their service in terms of connection and call centre. I have had their white hen house router and the smaller gigaset router both of which drop...

    Sky Broadband. Control Freakery?

I used to use my Netgear DG834N router when with 02 Broadband. I switched to Sky Broadband 6 months ago and although my wired connection is fine the wireless signal sometimes doesn't work in a couple of the upstairs rooms (say 30 feet and upstairs away from the Sky router). I asked Sky if I...

    Broadband speed drops dramatically

I'm with BT and have enjoyed 5 - 5.5Mbps speeds on their "up to" 8Mbps for ages - perfectly happy. About a week ago, I thought stuff seemed to be loading up slower so over the last couple of days I checked my speed on a variety of sites. Lo, all came back with around 340Kbps down, 370Kbps...
