    A thought experiment.

It is possible to buy a widget called an ESL emulator. I am guessing that the EIS sees this as a good unit and allows the engine to start, all other things being equal if the ESL fails. (It gets an ESL good signal which allows it to proceed.) That proves the key is awake and that the EIS is good...

I never thought I'd see the day..

When it started with a "3" :D Last weekend's trip to Bruges, I was driving like a nun though. Checked it brim to brim, the average for the whole trip was 27.5 MPG. Not too shabby for a 5.5L V8. Cheers, Gaz

Have You Ever Thought Something Was Terminal?

I recently purchased a 300E very cheaply a week ago. After 150 miles it started to make an odd and loud noise, I stopped and opened the bonnet, Well, nearly, as the little tongue that pops out of the grill came away in my fingers! I searched the ditches but could not find anything to open it. So...

Probably not new but i thought it cooll

Folks, I just discovered that if you press and hold down buttons 537 on command for >5 seconds it allows you to choose the start up graphics - there are different settings for different models, of course I chose the W211 settings for my E55 and then I immediately changed my start screen from...

    Scary thought

Tonight at 11.55 pm it will be less than twenty years since I was in my thirties. Six minutes later, it will be less than twenty years until I am in my eighties. Frightening isn't it?

I thought I was bored with driving

Earlier this week I had a fun journey from Doncaster, taking in London, Cornwall, Shrewsbury, Lake District and Country Durham over 3 days. The Mercedes was in the garage in need of a little TLC, so it fell to the X5. This is a car that I've yet to really gel with, despite owning it for 8...

W210 Diesel pump timing saga (THOUGHT)

With reference is my previous thread. Is it possible that the diesel pump timing could out by 180 degrees even though the engine timing is spot on and the pump was locked when fitted? All thoughts greatly appreciated. Shane.

    Just a thought

Reading all the petrol company hype and threads around the extra power generated by V Power and the like, I wonder if we should be telling our beloved insurers what grade of go-juice we use. If they want to know about winter tyres and the like then "high power" fuels may be a concern for them...

Hi - Never thought I'd own....

Hi all, Yesterday bought a W210 from a friends parent, 137K and loads of history. I have to say I'm slightly turned to the dark side already of owning a larger Merc. Coming from a history of Alfa's etc. This site has already been useful, for example the W/S next to the gear selector. Well...

Thought I had a hole in the exhaust, I was wrong

On a cold startup, I was hearing what sounded like a hole in a joint in the exhaust or a gap in the manifold and it would go away after about a minute or so which I put down to the the joint heating up, and closing. I took it to an exhaust centre and when they examined the car, they said the...

Thought I had wasted money on tyre insurance

When taking the car in to MB dealer for a fault they did a health check and said the nearside front had sidewall damage (more good driving form the wife) and needed replacing. I rang the insurance and told them and that it had alloy damage as well on both sides. they told me to get the tyre...
