    MoT - tyre tread depth

Regarding the MoT tyre tread requirements I've read: "The grooves of the tread pattern are not at least 1.6mm throughout a continuous band comprising -The central three-quarters of the breadth of tread, and -Round the entire outer circumference of the tyre" So my question is, how does the...

More tread on New car tyres ???

It was safety inspection time recently on the Viano and I got an advisory for rear tyre wear. They are now less than 3mm apparently. I've ordered a pair of the same, Goodyear Eagle NCT5's as the current ones have done just shy of 58000 miles. I could probably get another 3 or 4 thousand from...

where do you measure tread wear from and at what point does the measurement run of at the sides, if the tracking has been out and worn the sides this can render the tyre worn out but how worn and how far in if that makes sense.

    Screw in tyre tread

Found a screw in one of my tyre treads. I pulled it out and it doesn't appear to have gone through all the way through the tyre. There is no audible leak nor any loss of tyre pressure. Is it safe to continue driving on this tyre? Or will I risk having a blow-out on the motorway? I thought...

Tyres worn in centre of tread

Just noticed that both my rear types are worn in the centre, below 2 mm. The outer section of tread is 4 - 5 mm deep. The tyres pressures are 32-34 psi, well below the max/high speed pressure. Any ideas why this has happened ? MOT in 2 weeks.
