I have a trickle charger which I use but on this SL it looks like I can't use it.
It looks to be a switched positive rather than permanent live.
Has anyone altered this?
What's the alternative as it has a cigar fitting.
Don't really want to use crocodile clips on the battery.

You would have to alter the boot cigar lighter socket wiring so that it is permanent live.

May I ask, "Why not?"

I have a battery drain problem and have found that the convenience module is the cause. So, I unplug it when I leave the car for more than a few days. Trouble is, this time I forgot!!!

Damn. Crocodile clips time.

I didn't realise the battery was in the boot!
So for £7 I will get the clips and remove fag lighter attachment.
Thought I would be lifting the bonnet.

Bought a pair of crocodile clips red and black.
Removed quick connector for fag lighter and clipped in crocodile clips there's one way only.
Connected correctly to battery and reverse polarity shows up.
Connect leads wrong way round on battery and light comes showing charging.
How the hell does that happen?
As I've said pull out connector and plug in the new lead one wire is round and other square on block so can't connect wrongly??

Can you put up some pictures to illustrate what it is that you are doing?

On my iPad if I click on yellow landscape icon I assum is for pictures it sends me back to home page. Safari and chrome so I can't send pictures.
My accumate is now charging my battery in the boot but I have connected positive to negative and negative to positive basically the wrong way round to make it work.
I have used this on countless cars with no dramas until now!!
