On this SL I seem to be a little stuck. When I bought the car, it had an aftermarket head unit installed yet still the original speakers. As all speakers well shot, I replaced all in both doors and installed a new pioneer head unit, so that I can play my phone through it. This worked for around 2-3 months then there would be no sound out of the speakers. But the head unit was sending out a signal.
I have looked through the forums and have come a little stuck. I know that I dont have the Becker system I think. Nor do I have the bose system as I have rear seats in the car but the bass drivers in the door measured 1Ω Yet behind the passenger seat under the rear seats, there is a black box labelled MB sound system. Is this an amp?
As when I bought the car as I moved along there would be a click from the Black box and would speed up as I sped up, only solved by turing the stereo on and click would go away. Is this a sign that the amp was on its way out?
If so new amp it will have to be, and is there anyone which has a wiring diagram for this model with this spec?
Currently the car is about to go into a specialist to make it run again so will have some time to look around.
