I have a friend with a 2003 CLK200 kompressor. the tyre sizes on his standard rims are 205/55ZR16 front and 225/50ZR16 rear.
He is thinking of putting 205/55VR16 WINTER TYRES on all round.
I said that I thought that would be OK since rolling diameter differs only by 1mm. see http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html :)
However I would be happier if I knew the standard rim widths front and back. are they both the same or are the rear wheels wider??. N.B.These are standard rim widths. maybe the handbook would tell you Thanks

They are likely to be 16x7 and 16x8. Your handbook has good information on the permissible tyre sizes, but I can tell you now that it is absolutely fine to fit the 205/55R16 as a winter tyre all round.

WINTER TYRES and Rim Size

Thanks for the info. :D Confirms my suspicions and I have advised my friend to consult her handbook. There's quite a difference in cost between 205/55R16 94V XL at £72.30 and 225/50R16 96V XL at £118.70 for Nokian WR's at www.mytyres.co.uk  By the way these 225/50R16 Nokian WR's were the only V rated winter tyre I could find quickly in that size. I run these Nokian WR's myself and they help a lot inwinter motoring :bannana:
