2004 S320 CDI Engine Temperature

Can anyone tell me the correct engine running temperature?

My 320 CDI runs at 40c while the car is moving and increases quite quickly when stationary until the electric fan kicks-in. 40c seems a tad low to me.

Should be high 80s to very low 90s at all times. If you have the I6 engine then the thermostat is probably dud.

Yeah should be between 80-90
