2004 clk 180 kompressor
Hi guys,
Just new here and lookin a bit of help.
Got a car here that has no compression on (from fan) cylinder 3&4. I've been told it's bent valves?? Only running on 1&2. Big job, many tools needed to do, cost if left in some where??

Where in the UK are you? (so you can talk to your local indi)

Valves don't get bent for no reason....

If it's the M271 engine (1.8L), then it's very likely that the valves got bent due to timing gear failure.

In this case the only economical solution is new engine from breakers.

The issue is that the valves may have damaged the piston crowns, in which case new piston(s) will be needed.

So you are looking at new timing chain, sprockets and tensioner, new valves, possibly new pistons, and many hours of labour - almost certainly more than the car is worth.

If it was a burnt valve as opposed to a bent valve- then a head off job and new valve might have sufficed.... but this does not seem to be the case.
