Hi

I'm new to the forum! Just a quick query regarding the 4th Service.

I got a quote for a service as it's just turning 4 years old.

The mymercedesservice website is coming up with the following:

Service A £247.62

However, there are additional items which take the cost up to £928.72:

Replace Brake Fluid £90.00 - I know this needs doing so I'm ok with this.
Replace Air Filter element £140.28
Replace Fuel Filter £101.04
Automatic Transmission: Carry out oil and filter change with transmission 722.9 NAG 2 £349.78!

Is the Automtaic Transmission oil and filter change, air and fuel filter change required? Or shall I just get the standard Service A and brake fluid change?

Thanks in advance!

How long are you planning on keeping this car? Find a good Merc indy :)

Hi Kam05

I've just bought it a few days ago, so planning to keep it for a good few years.

I might go independent, in your experience how much cheaper will it be?

Is the Auto Transmission oil change really required at 4 years?

Thanks :)

Should be changed once at 45,000 miles. If its already been done it doesn't have to be done again - that is optional. I had mine done at Black55 (Olly) at not much over £200....and he does a thorough job.

I'm guessing you did not purchase it from a mb dealer?

Cheers for that. Unfortunately, I'm in the north west. Any recommendations? Thanks

Hi as its listed in the service book to change the oil in the auto box, it's probably best to have it done. Mine was done after 3 year by the previous owner ( lucky for me :)...so maybe your has) on cost l was quoted £600 ish by a main dealer and £360 (using genuine parts) by an independent merc specialist for the 4 year service without the gearbox included.

Cheers for that! I'll start calling a few independent specialists then!

i have the same car and i'm paying just over £700 with a service plan from Mercedes and that inc 2 services. I also went down the independent merc specialist but there was only £60 in it and if you have it done my Mercedes you get another years brakedown cover also. Just keeps it all under 'one roof ' for me as also have Mercedes extended warranty also.

Hi Dreddy
Welcome to the forum.
The auto box oil, filter and gaskets need changing at the 3rd year - I bought mine 2nd hand last August from a MB dealer, they tried to convince me that it wasn't required, so I double checked with MB UK using the VIN, it is needed. You will prolong the life of the gearbox and lessen the risk of it breaking.

Also OT, I got your email, but can't reply to you, you're set up not to receive emails. Anyhow, I haven't found a replacement for mine yet ...
