I have to think of everything.

So what can he buy for the cost of a week at Butlins?:D

a decent car I should guess, they may even give him 80 or 90p for his FORD.

And then he can have a weekend with real people with real cars at a real event.

Please stay on topic people - If your not intending on going then stay out of the discussions!

the problem with the caterers will (my guess) be down to numbers, we need to guarantee them a decent amount of potential customers.

If we can get a van that offers a couple of vegetarian options, that may be our best option

Up to 200 people, I don't think we can justify getting two vans on the site

We will keep you posted though

Looking forward to this already.

Booked for myself + 1 (my brother - maybe we can convert him to the MB fold :)) and a camping pitch (tent not my caravan).

I'm hoping I can bring the 107 SL and the weekend will be nice and sunny - sounds a good chance to drive the SL with the roof down around some lovely roads and scenary. If i bought the caravan i'd have to bring the W124 estate......

Just a thought - why not have a stall on which all members can sell MB unwanted parts - i.e. Mats, UHI cradles, etc - you put a price on it and if sold the club takes a 10% or whatever commission for selling it. A rota can be drawn up for manning the table.

Just a thought - sure to be many reasons why not though...:D

I'm buying the car to full fill a lifelong dream. Probably the last good car I'll ever own. Then there is some costly work to be done around the house next year. Apart from that there is more than enough sheep here to keep me happy.

Keep it a long time (the 204 hasnt been with you very long). Your 212 will be a good car in 10yrs time. :thumb:

Back on topic, I bought my ticket this AM. Shall be good methinks

Is there a hard surface at the site? I'm a Merc specialist and might be interested in having a traders pitch, but can imagine trying to jack up and support a car safely on a (possibly) soggy field might be a bit problematic...

3G coverage in this area appears to be non existent, so credit card machine won't work. Can see this being an issue for traders.

Credit card machines do work in certain areas at the location (Orange, not sure about others). As for a hard standing, we'll get back to you.

Mine is vodafone, and their maps (Jan 09 update) show no coverage. They aren't always accurate though. If someone at the site has vodafone and gets a 3G signal on their mobile thats good enough for me.

If there is no 3G signal our Vodafone machine connects via GPRS over the normal network so as long as there is a GSM phone signal it shouldn't be a problem.

What you need is a Qwik Shelter & Floor like they use on rally stages, that makes even the worst bog easy to work on and you can then jack anything on there. Think you can hire them if you don't want to fork out for one.

Thats good to know. I figured it should work like this although my provider led me to believe otherwise. I've not ventured outside the warmth of 3G to try it :) Thanks for the info.

yep, we are looking into the alternatives and just how viable they are.

we are also wondering how many people would like mechanical work carried out that required the car to be lifted and how much time the traders/techs would be able to 'sell' in order to make hiring some sort of temporary flooring viable.

Far more likely is that we will try and focus on STAR diagnosis/tuning/modding and more simple mechanical stuff that doesn't need a car raising.

However, we are open to ideas :)

Think that is wise as you may also run into insurance issues ?

we will have public liability insurance in place for the event, traders will be responsible for their own insurance and although they will be trading at the event all arrangenments and agreements will be between the trader and their customers not the event organisers etc etc

OK, the final draft of the wording is a long way off (I need to speak to a lawyer friend for that :)) but that's the gist of it

I was wondering what people might like done as well, obviously big jobs are going to be impractical and not what the event is really about but I figured people may be interested in things which are generally additional service items at the stealership like gearbox oil/filter changes, spark plugs etc as well as the usual Star stuff. Feedback from attendees would be helpful to gauge how viable it would be.

I'm also quite mindful of the fact that Im not a prolific user of the forums and I don't want to tread on anyone's toes. There is only a certain number of traders that an event of 100 cars or so can support after all and if there are specialists who are forum regulars and wish to trade here I would step aside.

As for insurance I have £5m public liability cover.
