I have a 2011 E350 Cdi Coupe with FMBSH and 66K miles.

It lost power approaching traffic lights and wouldn't start but all lights show when you start. There was no warning before this.

I called Mobilo and the MB technician this morning diagnosed 9 current failed components which he said was unusual. He suggested a failed Engine Management Module which he said had shut down.
I made him call MB for a quote for the Module. £1269 inclusive of VAT. Not sure about labour.
My local MB Specialist has quoted a similar figure for the part with maybe 3 hours labour.

Not sure whether to take the car to MB or the specialist.

1. I get free recovery to the Stealership and a free courtesy car
2. I will fork out £120 for recovery to the independent. I don't have RAC or AA.
3. Though I bought the car privately and not from MB what are my chances of pushing for a contribution or goodwill gesture if I give them the work? :dk:
The car is clearly out of warranty but the previous owner threw money at the stealership hence I still have Mobilo.

My APA Warranty only covers the first £1000.

Any advice will be appreciated. Many thanks.

Try good will gesture / contribution if it has full dealer history
