Hi

After some advice, took car in for service today first time not at the MB dealer and they have reported that the sump plug was jammed and it cracked the plastic sump upon removal

Part on the broken sump is A6510100428 this is no longer available I am told

Need to fit A6510102913 but this needs a new part A6510141502 at a cost of around 1300 quid fitted, is this correct and my only option?

quick google shows this is this correct Масл.картер и индикация уровня масла на Мерседес СЛК-Класс (r172). Каталог запчастей к Mercedes Benz SLK-Class (r172). Оригинальные запчасти. EPC, Tecdoc | Merc.com.ua

Any body else had this?

Many thanks

If the part is so expensive and no longer available, I'd start ringing around Mercedes breakers for the whole plastic sump.
The garage that cracked the sump must take some responsibility IMO.
Is there any chance of a plastic weld to repair your one?

I would also say the garage which perform service should cover the cost of fixing or replacing as its them who actually caused damage.
Unless they reported plug jammed and asked you if they should carry on

Hi
Just phoned me to give me the bad news that it was broken after they tried to remove
Breakers from previous message also good idea
many thanks guys

£1,300 fitted sounds expensive to me.

My copy of EPC states A 651 010 04 28 (Oil Pan, Lower Section) was replaced by A 651 010 29 13 (Oil Sump, lower section)+ A 651 014 02 00 (Oil Sump, not for Sport Utility Vehicle).

There's a used A651 014 02 00 on Ebay now for EUR 226.

These people are offering a pattern part for A651 010 29 13 at EUR 80:
Ölwanne Mercedes 2.2 OM651924 OM651980 A6510102913 lower oil sump

And these people are offering new MB ones at EUR 124.40:
Mercedes, A6510102913 - partacus.de - original spare parts and accessories

With new A651 014 02 00 at EUR 324.46:
original spare parts and accessories at en.partacus.de

Might be a good idea to post up your VIN: A 651 010 04 28 was for engines from 30784583 (29/08/2011) but A 651 014 15 02 was for engines up to 30401960 (27/01/2011). I think more precision is required here.

Hi, good info thanks appreciated, looking at some online pics of A6510100428 that is no longer available it looks just like A6510102913 even the bot locations

The VIN is WDD2042032F857491 with engine 65191130964029 so seems not to need that upper sump as engine number higher than 30401960 if i understand correct?

Looks as though its an either/or situation.

My 2017 EPC lists 2 possibilities for the upper sump for your VIN: A 651 014 16 02 and A 651 014 02 00, both parts have the same footnote saying from engine no.30784583.

I also have both A 651 010 04 28 and A 651 010 29 13 listed for the lower sump for your VIN. Again both have the from engine no. 30784583 footnote. The 29 13 part has another footnote saying 'not valid for modification year 11/2 scale 2 (069)'. Looking at your data card, the first option is given as AEJ 11/2.

Looks like MB have changed the part 'in flight' as it were. What we don't know is why are they saying 02 00 should be used when replacing 04 28 with 29 13. Perhaps 29 13 only mates to 02 00 whereas 04 28 mated to other upper sumps as well as 02 00 (theres another half dozen or so).

I also have an older version of EPC (2014), checking this shows only A 651 014 02 00 for your upper sump and A 651 010 04 28 for the lower sump.

Chances are that you do have 02 00 already then and 29 13 should mate to it.

Hi

Thank you so much for this, i do have an update. They got a new style sump A6510102913 and it offered up and had a bolt match but would not allow the oil level sender to mount as not enough clearance so is a lower profile pan than the original part A 651 010 04 28

As the job looks so big to swap the upper bit I hunted for a A 651 010 04 28 all yesterday afternoon from breakers and hopefully have a good second hand one off a C220 CDI coming for monday that should go on without issue

The job card states 14.5 hours to swap the upper sump and looking under the car at the garage yesterday seems subframe off and perhaps gearbox off as very tight fit under there

Fingers crossed that the one coming is good and from now on suction only oil changes

I will let you know how it goes
