i am trying to find the model year of an engine with the plate attached

its in a danish military 240gd

any help or direction to find it would be greatly appreciated

Hi Mike, that should be an om616: Mercedes-Benz OM616 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Can you see the block number anywhere? Might be stamped above the oil filter?

Thanks for that. I will look for the stamp. Do you know how digits it should be?

It should say 616 followed by nine numbers, if it is does mercedes might be able to give you a build date.

I'd give your nearest merc dealer a call, the parts guys may be able to bring it up on their system.
