722.6 gearbox filter: hole in plastic

Hello,

I was just about to change the gearbox oil and filter in my ML270 and noticed the replacement filter housing has a small hole in the casing.

Looking for advice on whether this is still ok to use, will it allow oil pass the filter part?

I've just had the filter changed in mine. Considering the part is around £16 from MB is it really worth risking it? I'd be worried about where that bit of plastic will go. Sending it floating around the gearbox channels does not sound good!

They are sending me a replacement filter, just means waiting a week or two for it.

It looks more like a bad mold rather than broken. It's definitely worth checking all 'new' parts before fitting!
