CLK 320 Avantgarde convertable
Hello Everyone,

I own an 03 , 320 CLK Avantgarde convertable. Beautiful car to drive and a peach to look at when its polished up ..

I have started to hear a sort of rattle from under the car, when accelerating hard. The sound does not happen when cruising steadlily, at idle or revving the engine.

I'm thought it might be a loose exhaust bracket or heat shield. But , I am now thinking of something a little more sinister, ie a Cat on the way out. (I assume it has one.. I'm new to Mercs ..)

Any advice from any one ?

Cheers

There can be a few reasons for it.

1. The cat is loose inside the exhaust
2. There is a bracket that rusts that holds the exhaust to the rer end of the gearbox.
3. There is a heat shield that sits on top of the exhaust section that runs under the gearbox. They also rust and work loose.
