Hi All hope your enjoying the weather and making the most.
Just had my air con recharged and drove away all chilled but after a day with the air con on max it appears to be blowing warm air which is not the desired affect I'm looking for, took vehicle back to discuss with garage and they believe it may be an electrical fault .:devil::devil::fail

Any ideas any one, any help would be appreciated

I think they are fobbing you off. My guess is they filled a leaking system (illegal) and took your money.

You need to establish whether it is full of gas or not and then confront them

I took a works vehicle in because the air con was not working, got it back cold as ice, but 3 weeks later, it was blowing hot air again.

Took it back & they fixed it again at no cost, only 2 weeks since but still cold.
After only a day's use I would think finding a leak on yours would be easy.

Get it looked at by a proper air conditioning specialist.
Not just one of those automatic machines.
I had a similar problem but the original garage did not charge me as they could not reduce the temperature from the air con.

I called in a local (Plymouth) mobile air con specialist and he tested, found and fixed the leak.
Those machines are okay but they cannot replace experience.

If there were a 'specialist' in the Cirencester area, I would possibly consider them. Both Kwik Fit and Mercedes tell me there is not a leak, when clearly there is. Is going back to MB in a couple of weeks for another look. But realistically I want it fixed asap, with MB/quality parts...it is that simple.

If it is a W202 chances are that the condenser has a leak. There is a failsafe in the system to stop the kompressor from kicking in if it is low on gas.

If you take it to Kwickfit for the regas they usually return your money if the car has a leak.

Generally speaking in order to detect it they need to inject a dye in to the system to find the leak, and that process is usually conducted by a car aircon specialist.

However the W202 has a tendancy to leak at the bottom of the condenser due to debis build up rotting the condenser.

I've had to replace the condenser on two of my previous W202s and it is a common fault.

It's not a difficult job and you can get an aftermarket unit but change the drier at the same time. The drier is very easy to replace and is on the right hand front side of the engine compartment and has a small glass sighting hole on top of it in order to see the gas.

thanks all for your help and support brilliant advice which I took in car, went back and was then stripped and identified minor leak which was repaired (no charge) now cold as a Eskimo. However due to new job and relocation my pride and joy will now need to go to a new home as I do not have the space for it. Hopefully there is a merc enthusiast that would be interested ( would prefer it went to someone who will look after it and appreciate, has been a great pleasure to own and drive, If any one knows of someone or is interested can you please let me know going soon.
