Today I fired up my petrol mower and cut the lawn in the back garden, don't think I've ever done this in February before, just wondering if any on the forum had cut theirs this year yet, am I the first? :thumb:

Not me but neighbour has mowed their lawns already. Contractors have done a couple of public areas too

bit early for mine.
And over the winter moss has taken over. I did a lawn sand treatment last year with no great benefit. Think I'm going to have to get a specialist in:fail

My mower started first time!!

Yes it's rather too mild but the grass looks good

Yes mine started first time too, having sat quietly in the shed since about last Oct. so as it was such a nice day thought I'd better use it. :dk:

You gotta hate climate change

You've gotta hate climate change, although some are clearly cuck-a-hoop.

Last year, I was "gifted" a free self propelled 4 stroke "professional" mower with all the attachments. I tried to sell it on here at half price with zero takers. It has an electric starter. I also have a Honda 4 stroke hover mower which has never let me down.

Having failed to sell the free machine, I thought I should give it a try. The electric starter is a great bit of kit. One turn of the key and it fires straight up. So now I have two mowers, very short grass, and don't have swear too much at start up time.

Planning to do my lawns today. First time in months so will be a chore. I suspect the trusty Honda will fire up on the second pull like it always does.

Perhaps I'll let the sheep in ...

Mowed my lawn mid January. Maybe because I've retired now and have to find things to do!!!!

With thick clay soil I have to wait until the surface and the grass is dry otherwise I am creating perfect conditions for moss to take over from grass. If this dry spell continues I might do a light first cut later this week.

The less grass I have the better.

My grass is growing , but still too many frosty mornings so think I'll leave it a bit .

I wanted to cut ours on Christmas day as it was mild and dry but Mrs BTB wouldn't let me!

Well done Ted, you are now in bronze medal position. :thumb:
See my expertise below. ::(
