Guys,

Need your opinions please as I'm getting mixed review.

Thinking of fitting the following AMG wheels on the SLK55, other half is not too keen but I like them, think it will suit the car, they are more or less the same design as my original ones.

Yes? Or keep the original ones?

Cheers,

Jo

Both sets look like a bee-atch to clean!

Other than the colour, what is the difference?

As said, a paint job should suffice. The Mrs probably wants you to take her away for a weekend on the saving. ;)

Black

Go for the Black, wheel specialistic is where i went to take my penta AMG, black on your SL55 will make your car look more aggressive.

Not much difference mate, mine has a deeper centre that's all I can spot.

Charcoal or dark grey looks better than black, imho.

I think I'd go for saving a grand. She would really love you if you spent that on a w/e away. ;)

You know she already gets to go on lots of adventures with me :) even the people at her work said "All you do is go on holidays and drive fast cars" lol.
I do try to look after her. ;)

I know what you mean though, and I will probably end up leaving them the way they are.

Was quoted over £100 + VAT per wheel to powder coat them plus polished lips with the wheel specialist

Think that's a bit too much?

Forgot to mention, I'm her fav person at the moment as I've got her a brand new A class which she pick up this week.... I can get away with a few things right now...

I'll post pictures when she picks it up, shes very happy!

Have a word with Diamond Styling in Sevenoaks. My E55 came fitted with 22 spoke SL55 turbine wheels, so very similar to yours. I never thought they suited the car so I fitted AMG III's but got the turbines refurbed. They fully refurbed them inc a slight colour change before then machining the face and lacquering them. They did a good job and I'm sure they were in the region of £75 per wheel. They wet paint though rather than powder coat, but paint will always give a better finish IMO.

Thanks Simon, will E-mail them later.
If I'm honest I would prefer them powder coated if I am going to get them done.

Just to update the thread.

I've had the original AMG wheels Powder Coated in Matte black with dimond cut lip. :)

Thats not an update.....updates contain pictures!!!!:D:D:D
