Good point, but I've slept on it and had second thoughts anyway.

The seller also trades as 'dieselenginesRus', supplying remanufactured and low mileage diesel engines. The car was presumably written off just before he bought it as salvage in 2014. Why did it then stand for two years before it was fixed and put through an MoT? Could it be that the low-mileage engine in it was sold, and the engine in it now is of unknown (to me) origin and mileage?

I'm reminded of the dubious used motorcyle trade, where it was not unknown for somebody to buy a low-mileage used bike, but when they collected it it didn't seem to run nearly as well as on the test ride, and lo! and behold, the engine number didn't match the one on the registration document.

Nasty suspicious mind? Yes. I may well be wrong, but am I willing to risk it? I don't think I am.
