E320 CDI
Hi

I have a 2005 w211 e330cdi. I've just had it serviced yet by a specialist at 80000 miles. The last service was just 9500 miles ago and the next service is indicated for another 9500. This seems a little low considering I do drive very carefully, even if it involves a bit of town driving.

Is it possible for the garage to over ride and set the next service? Similarly, I've read that the type of oil used can be set in the system and influence the next service? Mercedes 229.51 fully synth was used but not sure if this has been set.

Hope that lot makes sense!

I have a similar issue with my W221 320 CDI it will only reset to 4500 miles to next service I've reset it numerous times but to no avail

If you find a solution let me know

Mystery solved.

It was the oil setting, when I finally found the service menu (the method varies depending on model and year) it appeared the oil setting (under the last service of additional work) was set to standard. Change this to 229.51 grade, which was used and the interval changed to 12500 miles. Much more like it.

Difficult to say whether it is the garages responsibility to change this, but certainly something to keep an eye out for.

Just keep in mind that on some models the higher oil grade should only be selected if also using long-life oil filter element (made of fleece and with an external protective mesh), but not with the standars paper filter element. But this does not apply to all models I think.
