Hi All, this is possibly a daft question, but that's never stopped me before...

I have a DVD player in the car, and because of problems in the past with Infra Red headphones, I (or rather my kids) use wired headphones plugged into the line-out jack.

Two kids and one socket means using a splitter cable, about £3, and this works OK. Now, if I want to add another set of headphones can I split the signal again. Is it going to get quieter each time? And if so, is there a device to boost the signal back up again.

I've just spent an hour or so googling, but no joy.

Good call. Actually, I'm asking because I've got the whole lot out at the moment, and if I need to change it then I don't want to reinstall it twice. The cable is the easy part, but remove and refit the boot liners, CD changer and rear seat is not so easy.

I tested it on the bench, and found there is slight degradation, but not enough to worry about. So I spent my Saturday fitting it all.

Boot liners out
CD changer out
Rear seat bench out
Rear seat back out
Sill covers out
Rear carpets out
Centre console out

Fit player in rear well next to CD changer
Fit screen to centre console
lay in cabling for AV and remote control eye
lay in power and earth to both
add terminal to rear fusebox
connect up - all still working fine.
Put car back together.
Find various screws and bits of trim in lounge
Put car back together again.
Test - still working fine.
Fetch disc, play disc, player jams and dies.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrggggggggggh!

I'm going to replace it with a freestanding system!

Bad luck Nick, and it sounded very much like it was going to be a slick system too!

Best of luck with the next idea, and I hope you enjoyed the rest of your weekend.
