Guys,
The above lights have come up on my 99 CLK, without taking it to a garage are there any obviuos (common) things that may be causing the problem?

Cheers

Welcome to the forum ;)

Do a search for Brake Pedal Switch and ABS Speed Sensor

Very Common Problem

THe Brake Pedal Switch is about £10 and easy to fit, There's lots of pics on here to help.
THe ABS Speed Sensor Cable is about £50 and again easy to fit, you just need to know which one it is, Think there is one for each front wheel and maybe one for each rear or just one on the rear.
If you have it - Does your automatic door locking still lock at 5mph?, If thats stopped working its probably the ABS Speed Sensor
Ideally you need a friendly specialist who will plug your car into a computer to pin point the problem.
Do a search and have aread here anyway,I'm sure you will get lots more replies and advice ;)

Guys,
Is there any easy way to check whether its the Brake Pedal Switch without having to pay a garage to diagnose the fault?

ill list the symthoms below to see if any on can recoomend anything.

As soon as i turn on the engine the ABS, BAS/ASR lights light up on the dashboard and i am given the warning messages on the computer.

I can not switched Traction Control on or off (using the swtich)

Any think else i should be looking at?

That's exactly as mine was doing last week. I changed the brake switch and it fixed it. I'd say 99% likely yours is the same.

Dont know if this always applies but i changed mine and the one that came out was visually nackered, the spring wouldnt push the button out any more. You'll understand when you see it but for the price i'd just buy one and replace it all at once.

Mine was £9 from Euro Car Parts and took 10 minutes to change, max.

Good luck, if you get stuck just post but its really easy :)

The brake light switch can and does kill the speed signal so the cruise cannot work.

As Said, its only £10 and easy to fit, and that is the cheapest thing to start with

Thanks mate, will order the part tonight and change on Friday

Thanks Again

Once the brake switch is changed does the ECU need to reset to clear the error?

I have changed the brake switch but am still getting the ABS, BAS, and Traction control errors on the dashboard
