That's a beauty. May well get snapped up by a specialist classic dealer and readvertised at twice the price!

Its usually the 4WD Central locking differential and transfer box that goes on these. Later models had a modified box. You would highly unlikely to pick up a used one in good condition from a breaker. I think they can be rebuilt - later ones had a sleeved transfer shaft rather than running in the alloy casing. You would be looking at 4 figures to get it repaired I would estimate if its not beyond repair. The price they are asking would reflect a car that's in top condition with all systems in good condition.
Other possibility of expensive problem to these cars would be the rear self levelling suspension.

Never mind the cream exterior that can always be resprayed but the blue leather interior looks lovely. I always wanted that colour interior in one of my w126s...
