I've been tidying my rusty wheel arches on the old s210 recently. I'm reasonably happy with my work so far. I've rubbed down, filled and sprayed from an aerosol. Now ready for lacquer.

On a small test area I couldn't get a good blend into the rest of the wing. In the region of the blending, it just looked like fine spots of new lacquer on top of the old lacquer.

Can anybody advise how they have managed to get a better result?

My colour is metallic dark red.

That'll be quite tricky to do with a rattle can Pal especially red colour as well

You need to spray to an edge to avoid the patchwork look.

I know that's the ideal way, but for a wheel arch it would mean spraying the whole wing.

Lacquer can be the hardest thing to spray!!

With no edge? You really need to get a high quality lacquer something like Glasurit. Then be sure to paint only when the temp is around room temp and there is absolutely no moisture in the air or anywhere on the surface you are attempting to paint.

Sadly you may find that getting the entire wing painted is the best option if the above fails.
