got a few little problems mounting up on the car over the last few months.

- Keyless go handle, drivers side
- TPMS stopped working - sensor
- near side wing miror dipping problem
- passenger dynamic seat de-activates after 10 mins

Brake related, maybe all the same problem?
- Check brakes go to workshop error
- SBC pump getting very noisy
- Starting the car, need to press the brake a few times before it starts

im hoping the warrenty will cover most of it, what do you guys think?

The keyless go handle should be covered, mine was.
I have a dynamic seat issue that is intermittent, my chap at the dealers thinks it will be covered.

TPMS, what is that?

The SBC should be covered by warranty.

Thanks for your thread, it has reminded me that I need to get my car booked in to have a few niggles sorted.

TPMS - tyre pressure monitoring system. The sensors on the alloys need replacing every 5yrs or so.

Alloywheelsdirect sell the sensors. Alloy Wheels Direct Ltd | TPM Sensors | Tyre Pressure Monitor If none have been replaced since the car was new they will probably all need changing (or soon will) and it isnt cheap. Many people opt to have the system disabled via STAR instead.

Had the same problems with mine.

-SBC was covered under MB warrnaty
-Keyless go door was covered under 3rd party warranty
- mirror not dipping was fixed by dealer before I brought it.

Seems like very common problems with the E class

If they dont cover the passanger mirror, its a simple fix. Its just one of the wires that breaks. 20-30 mins for a DIY.

Brakes. sounds like SBC threshhold reached. Maybe. Dealer should cover under warranty. Unit on its own is approx £800 + few extras and labour.

ok a little update on this one

handed the car in this morning, got a nice little B class CDI ; -

got a call at 4pm

- Keyless go handle, drivers side - needs replacing
- TPMS stopped working - sensor? - MB thinks its the main control unit... uhmmm pretty sure its just a sensor.
- near side wing miror dipping problem - broken wire in mirror harness

They will be ringing the MB warrenty in the mornign to get the work approved

The dealer has updated the SBC software which "should " fix it.... shouldnt this software update be applied at service time?, i still think its the switch and SBC unit.... but we`ll see....

I wouldn't be surprised if your SBC unit has failed/about to fail. Plenty of these were changed under warranty. They are little noisy but normally not too intrusive but too noise=bad!

Ok collected the car today, still has to go back next week

keyless door handle - replaced under warranty
Passenger mirror - Mirror frame replaced under warranty
TPMS - control unit has been ordered will be in next week

SBC - software was updated and it has made a noticable differance in the noise.

also reported engine vibration - they have ordered a new set of leads.

goes back next week so will give the final outcome once it comes back, so far, very pleased with the service from colchester mercedes

my 2003 e class has a keyless door handle which has stoped working
are you saying it is still under warranty from mec dealership.

ok as i have a min i thought id give an update on this

whilst in for a service in sept i reported possible rust on an arch, 3 mnths later i got a call saying mb had approved the one arch and i had 20 days to book it in. so car booked in with lancaster bodyshop, but no courtasy car :( .

Then got a call from the service manager saying they would like to complete the replacement of the tpms control unit as it had now arrived, so arranged forthem to collect the car from the bodyshop to carry out the work.

5 days in the bodyshop, colchester mb low loader it back, get a call the next day saying they have replaced the control unit and it hasnt fixed it and they think its a sensor .. as well... (uhhmmm... i recall asking them if it was a sensor when i dropped it off DOH!), anyhow, sensor ordered, delayed a day because of the snow, all fitted and ready to collect. Went to collect and the service manager asked if i minded waiting as the mb warranty company needed a date from the old sensor as if it was over 5 years old they would not cover the sensor!(which they had already disposed) so they wanted to try and get this off the old control unit ( i was wondering how they were going to do this as the control unit was supposed to be faulty!) an hour wait later they said they couldnt get the date off the sensor so i was free to go and they would try and make sure the waranty covered it.

mmost of the problems fixed, the new leads they cancelled as warranty didnt cover them and they said it would be £300 + vat for a new set

so got the car back day before xmas eve. tpms all working all good! :)

in general pleased by the service, not entirely sure the techs there are very knowledgable and good at using the diagnostics tools as they should be, but as it was all warrenty i dont mind them doing the bits. anything more complicated i might have to book it in with a AMG performance center, which i would hope had more specialist techs!

update ; - a few days after getting the car back the tpms died again, another sensor dead! Booked it in again hoping the warranty would cover it.

This time warranty wont cover it as they managed to get a date off the faulty sensor. bummer! stung for a £200 bill for a sensor. (Part price inc valve is abt £110). if i decided not to go ahead then £50 diagnostics fee and £15 for the loan car, so it made sense to get it done by them.

So... TPMS sensors are NOT covered by warranty if they have not been changed they count it as a servicable item as they only have a 5 year lifespan.

Alps, what sort of warranty do you have, as I am looking to buy a 211 estate?

Does anyone know if a faulty dipping mirror is easily diagnosed on a test drive?

Do you have any details of the software update to the SBC as my Dad's one is noisy as hell, yet Mercedes Benz Solihull claim they have never heard of any faults with them...?
