Broken dog guard luggage cover

Managed to knock the end off the big cassette that holds the retractable dog guard/luggage cover on my W124 estate. the spool holding the guard & cover came loose to the sound of whirling, unwinding spring type things!

Can't figure out how to get it all back togeter and re tension them so they retract as designed,

They look for all the world like a window roller blind.

Can anyone help please ?
