Seems strange to me that the original owner didn't go for the biggest available engine (the cost of which would have been insignificant compared to the cost of amourplating), especially considering what it weighs. I imagine the 4.2 struggles.

Mmm it has twin intake pipes too, not sure if it is a Turkish thing or not - might just be a 560 after all...?

Cool car. Twin intakes are normal for that year.
I've seen armoured 420's before but you're right it was much more often the bigger engines.

I wouldn't have thought the door skin material would be bulletproof.

More likely to have some kind of protection within the doors.
